Eleven years ago, just south of Forest Lake, Minnesota, right off of HWY 61. This same system produced tornado(es) in Minneapolis. I didn't have to travel far for an intercept. #mnwx

@BoKnowsWeather @ReedTimmerUSA Do you have any idea what kind of damage that beautiful Bronco will be subjective to? 😨
English

@BoKnowsWeather I wish I would’ve had mittens and a winter hat on my morning walk. 😳
English

@MesoCellWx Well. A freeze is mid may isn’t very good for anyone. Farming and planting wise. But j see your side lol.
English

@OctaneBoy Yeah I don’t remember it being that bad in recent years behind a storm system in May.
English
@BoKnowsWeather It almost seems like the chill after a storm front sweeps through is "more powerful" that the warmth that proceeded the front.

@BoKnowsWeather I’ve been trying to install LateSpring.exe but it gets to 75% but then it reverts back to EarlySpring.exe 🤨

Quite the train of large supercells to get caught in. Sooner or later- bad things will happen with so many out in the same area.

@arleneb2264 Oops. No eBay lol. Auto correct. Here’s what* I was able to find.

Here’s eBay I was able to find.
The National Weather Service is retiring legacy models like the NAM and HREF in favor of the Rapid Refresh Forecast System (RRFS) to simplify forecasting. The RRFS merges multiple specialized models into one streamlined system to provide higher-resolution data (3 km grid) across all of North America, faster hourly updates, and longer forecast outlooks. [1, 2]
NOAA is making this transition for several specific reasons:
•Unification and Efficiency: Instead of maintaining and comparing multiple disparate models with varying strengths, forecasters can rely on one cutting-edge system.
•Improved Ensemble Forecasting: The RRFS Ensemble Forecast System (REFS) produces 60-hour outlooks, giving forecasters longer, more confident predictions during severe weather than older 48-hour ensemble tools.
•Upgraded Data Assimilation: RRFS ingests better real-time starting conditions by incorporating modernized ground radar and advanced satellite technology.
•Better Storm Timing and Resolution: The RRFS allows forecasters to simulate the atmosphere in 1-hour intervals, and testing has shown it accurately captures the timing and evolutionary life cycle of severe storm systems.

@BoKnowsWeather We need to talk about how every forecast for the last 6 months severely overestimates precipitation for central MN.
English

@Jacob_J_Nelson Probably. I honestly didn’t even really check rain data for this system. Just was looking at severe weather stuff.
English

@BoKnowsWeather Is that one of those that would have had 1-2” of rain around St Cloud over a couple days? Huge swing and a miss.
English

@TeamCheeseWX A guy blew past us yesterday in MN in a red truck on the way to another storm. Had to have been pushing 80-90 in a 55 zone. Was def not an emergency vehicle.
English

@arleneb2264 NAM 3km is North American Model at the 3 kilometer resolution grid and RRFS is the new Rapid Refresh Forecast System that will become operational later this year- replacing a few other models including the NAM.
English

@BoKnowsWeather What do the initials NAM3km and RRFS stand for? I'm obviously not a meteorologist but love watching the weather. Thanks!

My Sasquatch saved me yesterday. Was doing a 3 point turn backup type of deal on a dirt road and I backed up a little too far down a steep embankment into the ditch. Had I been in a lower car- I wouldn’t have been able to get out of that too easily-if at all. Probably would have bottomed out. 😤
