Western civilization has collapsed before. But a few scholars preserved the ideas that once made Rome great. They made a backup, and it did eventually come all the way back. It just took one thousand years.

Sneak peak of a small handful of the evidence from my forthcoming manuscript (summary coming to @palladiummag!) on how there's A LOT of quantitative evidence for the European Dark Ages. There are so many more graphs than these ^^

@Lougotfacts @NikMilanovic You would think but no matter how much rent you pay you will find yourself in a subway car with lots of empty seats and a guy screaming and throwing punches at shadows and a smell of urine so strong you will want to puke. 🤮

Just got back from Tokyo. To NYC. It's hard to avoid the blindingly obvious truth--NY tax dollars are disgustingly wasted. It's shocking, the state of the City considering it's budget. You could "tax the rich" into bankruptcy and it wouldn't fix the MTA, which carries approximately the same ridership as the Tokyo Metro but has a budget 5.5x larger than Tokyo's. I mean the answer isn't dollars, it's actually just a question of efficiency. And NYC's government is corrupt, bloated, and the poster child of inefficiency.

@ericadamsfornyc Remember honest politicians have no chance to succeed, as fairy tales and made up stories are much more enjoyable to hear!!

There was never a $12 billion hole in the budget. That fairy tale was cooked up to justify reckless spending and political theater. I left the incoming administration with $8 billion in reserves, not a financial apocalypse. Albany election-year bailouts are not a long-term economic strategy. The free money dries up after Election Day, but the bloated “free” programs stay forever. And here’s the part the socialists in City Hall never want to admit: the millionaires and billionaires they love demonizing already pay roughly 40% of NYC’s taxes. Keep demonizing the people creating jobs, investing in this city, and carrying the tax base, and eventually they’ll stop investing here altogether. Facts are stubborn things. Even when some politicians aren’t.

Gov. Kathy Hochul just expanded the net on NYC’s new second-home tax. It now starts at properties with a “market value” of $1 million or more (for the next two years) — it used to be for second homes starting at $5 million. Plus, there’s a new surcharge on all-cash home purchases over $1 million. This is part of Mayor Mamdani’s push to “tax the rich” and close the budget gap. Critics say it’ll speed up the wealthy exodus from NYC to lower-tax states. Will they just pay it and stay… or pack up for Florida/Texas? (Video: AI)

If you make under $115,000 a year, you’re now basically lower middle class in America. Read that again. It now takes roughly $116,000 of household income to afford a house. The median household income? Just $69,000. This is why: • People feel broke • Consumer debt is exploding • Young families can’t get ahead • The middle class is disappearing in real time The economy looks strong on paper. But the average American is getting financially suffocated.

Whenever I read an article that doesn't say claim at 62, I just assume it is propaganda promoted by our broke government to trick people into receiving less money.. Social Security claims at 62 get social media buzz — experts say proceed with caution cnb.cx/4niNbjy

🇺🇸 WTF is happening in Chicago?! Teens taking over the streets, burning cars in the middle of the road, blocking traffic like it’s nothing. This looks out of a 3rd-world civil war video. Will ANYONE actually get arrested for this?

Well said. We have a spoiled child serving as Mayor in @NYCMayor with the intellectual rigor of @GretaThunberg . The sad part is that his incompetence will lead inevitably to a loss of jobs, economic hardship and increased crime in the poor and working communities he claims to want to help. The rich who don’t flee will continue to live their lives in their protective bubble.
Charles Gasparino@CGasparino

I hear New Yorkers, most of them affluent Dems, incessantly complain about Trump and his demeanor when they are literally being led to the proverbial slaughterhouse by a grinning, intellectually vapid and dishonest socialist who occupies a City Hall and hates everything they stand for. It’s quite remarkable

@patrickbetdavid Look at Cuba 🇨🇺 or Venezuela 🇻🇪, even if your wealth is tied to physical assets it is better to sell for what you can and leave versus staying. Once socialism takes hold you can never pay enough taxes to satisfy them!! No one has ever regretted leaving Havana!! Or Caracas!!

What politicians like Mamdani are missing in 2026. In 1970, 85% of S&P 500 wealth was tied to tangible assets. Politicians could bully the wealthy because money couldn’t move. Today, 90% is intangible: code, IP, capital. Wealth is now mobile. Push too hard & it leaves.
