Biden says Russian stock market will 'blow up' when it reopens after sanctions nypost.com/2022/03/12/joe… via @nypost

@HDogetagonist @balajis Based on NYC and San Francisco we are in the 500’s on this graph!!📈

Western civilization has collapsed before.
But a few scholars preserved the ideas that once made Rome great. They made a backup, and it did eventually come all the way back.
It just took one thousand years.

Sneak peak of a small handful of the evidence from my forthcoming manuscript (summary coming to @palladiummag!) on how there's A LOT of quantitative evidence for the European Dark Ages. There are so many more graphs than these ^^

@FuhgedNews Hard to believe but NYC is actually falling behind other 3rd world countries, Manila’s subway doesn’t flood anymore. Only NYC and Dhaka with this problem now!!

@ooana @NikMilanovic When I left New York for Florida, I thought I would miss the city and come back 4-5x a year. That was 15 yrs ago and I can count on one hand all the times I have been back!!
English

@Lougotfacts @NikMilanovic You would think but no matter how much rent you pay you will find yourself in a subway car with lots of empty seats and a guy screaming and throwing punches at shadows and a smell of urine so strong you will want to puke. 🤮
English

@lenagrundhoefer You skipped a couple stages, I could never live anywhere else, and don’t know how I lived in that shithole all those years.

@realajedelman Tokyo metro carries 3x more riders per year, everything you said is true but New York is much worse than you think!!🤔
English

Just got back from Tokyo. To NYC. It's hard to avoid the blindingly obvious truth--NY tax dollars are disgustingly wasted. It's shocking, the state of the City considering it's budget. You could "tax the rich" into bankruptcy and it wouldn't fix the MTA, which carries approximately the same ridership as the Tokyo Metro but has a budget 5.5x larger than Tokyo's. I mean the answer isn't dollars, it's actually just a question of efficiency. And NYC's government is corrupt, bloated, and the poster child of inefficiency.

@ericadamsfornyc Remember honest politicians have no chance to succeed, as fairy tales and made up stories are much more enjoyable to hear!!
English

There was never a $12 billion hole in the budget. That fairy tale was cooked up to justify reckless spending and political theater.
I left the incoming administration with $8 billion in reserves, not a financial apocalypse.
Albany election-year bailouts are not a long-term economic strategy. The free money dries up after Election Day, but the bloated “free” programs stay forever.
And here’s the part the socialists in City Hall never want to admit: the millionaires and billionaires they love demonizing already pay roughly 40% of NYC’s taxes. Keep demonizing the people creating jobs, investing in this city, and carrying the tax base, and eventually they’ll stop investing here altogether.
Facts are stubborn things. Even when some politicians aren’t.

@CGasparino They are leaving so fast it is impossible to get an accurate count but seems to be about 10%-20% of people making over $250k a year.
English

@Bubblebathgirl Only inherited money will stay in NYC no one that worked and earned their money will want to give it to the clowns running the city.
English

Gov. Kathy Hochul just expanded the net on NYC’s new second-home tax.
It now starts at properties with a “market value” of $1 million or more (for the next two years) — it used to be for second homes starting at $5 million.
Plus, there’s a new surcharge on all-cash home purchases over $1 million.
This is part of Mayor Mamdani’s push to “tax the rich” and close the budget gap.
Critics say it’ll speed up the wealthy exodus from NYC to lower-tax states.
Will they just pay it and stay… or pack up for Florida/Texas?

@jonbrooks More than 1/2 of Americans are broke. $115k is middle class and median is $69k. Lovely!!
English

If you make under $115,000 a year, you’re now basically lower middle class in America.
Read that again.
It now takes roughly $116,000 of household income to afford a house.
The median household income?
Just $69,000.
This is why:
• People feel broke
• Consumer debt is exploding
• Young families can’t get ahead
• The middle class is disappearing in real time
The economy looks strong on paper.
But the average American is getting financially suffocated.

@MarioNawfal It is insulting to compare Chicago to a Third World country, many lesser developed countries are nice just lacking infrastructure. Chicago is a complete sh*th*le.

@DanielSLoeb1 @NYCMayor @GretaThunberg Have no pity for New Yorkers that stay, move to Florida or stop crying.
English

Well said. We have a spoiled child serving as Mayor in @NYCMayor with the intellectual rigor of @GretaThunberg . The sad part is that his incompetence will lead inevitably to a loss of jobs, economic hardship and increased crime in the poor and working communities he claims to want to help. The rich who don’t flee will continue to live their lives in their protective bubble.
Charles Gasparino@CGasparino
I hear New Yorkers, most of them affluent Dems, incessantly complain about Trump and his demeanor when they are literally being led to the proverbial slaughterhouse by a grinning, intellectually vapid and dishonest socialist who occupies a City Hall and hates everything they stand for. It’s quite remarkable
English

@patrickbetdavid Look at Cuba 🇨🇺 or Venezuela 🇻🇪, even if your wealth is tied to physical assets it is better to sell for what you can and leave versus staying. Once socialism takes hold you can never pay enough taxes to satisfy them!! No one has ever regretted leaving Havana!! Or Caracas!!
