What’s left unsaid by Reza Pahlavi’s team — and Saeed is one of his top advisors — is what is required to get their guy into power. They always skip over that and jump right into Pahlavi being a transitional leader. No talk of a mechanism, no talk of the realities on the ground. And that’s because the reality contains a truth they know is inconvenient and not politically popular: Reza Pahlavi could not be a transitional leader of Iran unless the United States, in concert with Israel, installs him in that position, which would require — barring a miracle — the invasion of Iran and occupation of Iranian territory with hundreds of thousands of ground troops. And even that doesn’t guarantee their desired outcome.
Saeed Ghasseminejad@SGhasseminejad

The successful rescue of America pilots shows the regime’s ground forces are paper tiger too. The regime has no air defense and its ground forces are only good to kill unarmed protesters. They have no chance of standing against a real army.

Filipp Piatov@fpiatov

💢 REPORT | Opening Strikes in U.S.-Israeli Bombing Campaign Targeted Heart of Iran’s Pistachio Trade Iran was once the world’s leading pistachio producer. Today, USDA data show the U.S., led by California, accounts for roughly 65% of global output, while Iran’s share has fallen to about 18%. In the first week of the war, reports and geolocated satellite imagery indicated strikes in and around Rafsanjan, the heart of Iran’s pistachio sector, including apparent damage to pistachio warehouse facilities near the airport. The Resnick family, owners of The Wonderful Company and dominant players in California’s pistachio industry, have used political influence to secure vast water rights in drought-stricken regions, at the expense of local communities. The 2025 documentary Pistachio Wars examines their longstanding backing of pro-Israel lobbying groups, arguing that hawkish policies toward Iran align with their commercial interests, as weakening a key global competitor benefits their bottom line. 🎥 Pistachio Wars (2025) trailer.

Unfortunately, Israel couldn't successfully censor cell phone video, even if it tried really hard. Video of even (especially) misses and intercepts are valuable to Iran's missile crews. So funny that you mention AeroSol. It literally sold a 70% stake in itself a week prior for about $7M (thus valuing the entire company at $10M). Wow, quite a hit to the Israeli tech sector. And the missile (which obviously missed whatever target it was meant for, if any) ruined the building, but the damage to the company's actual value (mostly IP) was minimal. Yes, the US is economically dominant. Beyond your comprehension, apparently. If you knew anything about deficits, you might realize that the nominal debt is literally the net financial savings of the non-governmental sector. The main reason the trade deficit is so large (and, correspondingly, the budget deficit) is a corollary of the desire of much of the world demanding to hold savings in dollars and the US government acting (automatically in part) to offset this savings desire by propping up aggregate demand.

My read on the Iran war endgame: The final settlement will formalize what the battlefield already decided. Iran gets permanent leverage over the Strait of Hormuz. In return: uranium enrichment stops, missiles capped at the current 2,000km range, and sanctions lifted immediately. The non-aggression pact gets guaranteed by China or the UN and not Washington. There is no other realistic outcome. Every escalation from here further weakens the U.S. position, not Iran’s. Tehran has already won the strategic war, even as it loses the military one.

A short🧵for those insisting on a fiction: the Strait of Hormuz is not Iran’s sovereign toll gate, private cash machine, or maritime revenue stream. It is an international strait used by the world. Geography may give Iran a coastline on one side of it. It does not give Iran the right to invoice the rest of the planet for passage.

The situation on the ground is that they hear the bombing and sometimes see bombed out places, but the feeling is that its targeting the regiem. Until the recent escalation of hitting unis, petrochem and industry, they were saying that they feel they have been taken hostage by a ruthless gang and see no other way of getting rid of them. This is in the context of the January massacre, there is a collective trauma like of which i have never seen before. There are daily execution of arrested protesters and thousands are still missing. You have to also factor in economic devestation with 80% infalation, mainly thanks to the US sanctions. I feel this is irrational and dangerous, but i am not the one living there day to day, with no hope for a better future and the specter of arrest, torture and death. So, it is easy to judge, but believe me, you can't start to imagine how it is to live like this. I believe it can still get worse, and this war will lead to that, for them, it basically feels like either the IR regiem falls, or they have no life worth living amyway.

The BBC has no shame. They currently have a main article where they quote an "Iranian" who is supposedly okay with the US/Israel levelling Iran by using a nuclear weapon. Read that again. This is staggeringly false and beyond sicking. Further manufactured consent begins...

Beyond your comprehension, apparently is that the world is slowly no longer “is demanding to hold savings in dollars” because US is no longer seen as a reliable and stable partner, but the exact opposite. But hey, maybe Hungry, Argentina and Venezuela will keep things going fine. Your economy is a house of cards and a disaster waiting to happen, and your political system lacks what it takes to do anything serious about it. It is pretty funny actually, it is the same with our US sub, bloated org, huge egos, lots of bravado and hubris, not much results. Anyhow, good luck.

BREAKING: Israel is wiping out entire civilian homes in the village of Taybeh in South Lebanon — a village that stood for over 7,000 years. Not a battlefield. Not a military base. Homes. An ancient village erased in real time.

- Great argument and evidence. So what we see is nothing and also they chose to miss on the chance of playing an even bigger victim and put people in jail for absolutely no reason. And the AeroSol was another case of precision debris I hear. - Economic dominance, in what, vaporware? Stable and transparent system? What are you smoking? All you have is finance and IT. Europe is racing to decouple from both and you have zero credibility after the shit show of the past year. You should travel more, get out and see how the world sees you. Bad times ahead. - Sure, you can just run huge deficits year after year, hollow out your manufacturing, molest everyone - enemy and ally alike, spook the market with crazy tariffs, random sanctions and picking on the Fed every other day, with zero consequence, in perpetuity, because you are “exceptional”, i guess? SMH.

Not interested in debating Iran's missile performance with somebody who claims "censorship" is the reason we don't see much damage in Israel. That is a deeply ignorant and, unfortunately, widespread form of cope. I will respond, however to your comment about the threat to the so-called petrodollar because that is another silly myth. It doesn't matter what currency global oil sales are denominated in. It functions simply as a numeraire. The strength of the dollar stems from our stable and transparent laws, our strong protections for private property, and our economic and military dominance. If an oil seller receives "petrodollars" for his oil, and he doesn't want to hold dollars, he can sell them just as easily as anybody else. Likewise, if an oil seller receives euros or yuan, he can sell them into dollars if he wants to benefit from having a stable store of wealth or invest in dollar-denominated securities w/o hedging. Here endeth the lesson.

US tariffs on Iranian pistachios--thought by some to have been instituted at the behest of California's largest pistachio grower, the Wonderful Company (which also owns POM, the largest pomegranate growers in the US)--means that Iranian pistachios in US cost almost double the Californians. Interestingly, both the pistachio and pomegranate trees were planted from Iranian cuttings or seeds, and thus approximate in size and taste the Iranian ones. Turkish pistachios are quite different and have far less demand, which presumably why there aren't 100% tariffs on them.
Mohammad Ali Shabani@mashabani

Israel and the US apparently attacked the Iranian Pistachio Company early in the war. A major strategic target designed to give inferior Californian pistachios a chance.

Killing women and children is not winning. Destroying Iran’s economy and environment is not winning. Destroying schools and universities and power plants and water treatment facilities is not winning. Do not fool yourself. American is going to lose an entire generation of Iranians. Israel may never get the peace it deserves with Iranians. None of this is “winning.”

This war can be summed up by a single sentence from Netanyahu's 1993 book, A Place Among the Nations. "The task of Israel’s leaders is to try to convince the American government that it is in the interest of the United States to follow policies that cohere with Israeli interests, not vice versa." It's almost like they say it right to our faces!
