@ZiaYusufUK 860000 motability cars in the uk currently. Hardly 1 in 5. You clearly have NO CLUE how the scheme works - not free. You need to be in receipt of Mobilty Allowance with a long term disability to join the scheme, which then takes your award as rental payment on a lease car.

1 in 5 cars sold in the UK are paid for by the taxpayer through the Motability program, including BMWs and Audis. There’s no means testing, so households with six figure incomes are getting luxury coupes on the taxpayer’s dime. Over half of the recipients of the free cars have never had a medical exam to assess eligibility. If it’s the government’s position that everyone in the UK should get a free car, then they should be honest and give one to everyone. As things stand, the system is totally rigged against those who play by the rules.

@KatiePennick Part of the problem is the attitude of the assessors. A friend’s husband with mental health issues & body dysmorphia was assessed by a physio with no MH exp who put on her report ‘he feels spotty’. There is also an underlying rule that people are turned down on first application.

Labour wants to scrap PIP for those with "lower needs" i.e. scoring 3 or less for each activity. Let’s look at what that means. Need someone to lift you in and out of the shower? = 3 points. Need someone to dress your lower body – to put on your pants and trousers? = 2 points.
