Two things to keep in mind with these numbers. 1. Lost earnings/loss of life would go down by whatever percentage of fault the jury assigned to Tyler Skaggs. 2. Punitive damages would have required a separate hearing on the Angels' value, which could have changed the number.

Some specifics on what the jury was planning to award, via a source. • $62.5 mm on lost earnings ($50 mm after agents fees/consumption) • $19.5 mm on loss of life ($10 mm for Carli, $7.5 for Debbie, $2 mm for Darrell) • $10 mm in punitive damages Total: $79.5-$92 million

He did exactly right here. The #1 rule with bases loaded and less than 2 outs is you cannot get doubled up on a line drive to 3rd baseman. So your lead is as far as the 3rd baseman is from the bag. He did this perfect.

There are a lot of wrong answers in the replies, imho. But I completely agree about Casablanca. Godfather is another. I think Citizen Kane is a tougher call. So much of its greatness was in innovations that have been absorbed into film making generally. I don’t find it all that compelling to watch as a movie. Casablanca and Godfather are still enjoyable movies, but also brilliant films.

@JonahDispatch I still vividly remember looking across the gravitron as another rider puked. In slow-motion the vomit propelled forward then shot back into the face of the adjacent person. No better lesson on gravity.

They still exist. At least as of about 10 years ago.
