Figures I received from Limerick City and County Council today highlight a significant imbalance in CCTV coverage across our city. Limerick City West has just 12% of CCTV coverage, compared to 34% in Limerick City East and 51% in Limerick City North. City West deserves its fair share of CCTV to help improve community safety and support Garda investigations. In recent months, I have requested CCTV for areas including Punches Cross, Ashdown Roundabout, and in parts of Raheen, Dooradoyle and Mungret — many of which haven’t been considered. These figures now make an even stronger case for greater investment in CCTV infrastructure across City West. If there are areas in Limerick City West where you believe CCTV is needed, please let me know and I will raise and request them.
