If this is true, and all previous best picture winners clear the Oscars’ new inclusion rules, what’s the point of them? What problem are they trying to solve?
Variety@Variety

Why is Elon Musk melting down over #TheOdyssey and the Oscars? "Every best picture winner in the Academy’s 98-year history — from the 'Wings' in 1929 through 'One Battle After Another' this past March — clears the Oscars' new inclusion rules. That also includes 'Oppenheimer,' the film directed by Christopher Nolan, with whom Elon Musk had no problem until this past week. And Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of Homer’s 'The Odyssey,' whenever the Academy gets a look at it, would also clear the inclusion standards, and it’s not because Lupita Nyong’o was cast as Helen of Troy," writes Variety's Clayton Davis. variety.com/2026/film/awar…

Funny because it's true. Kept watching Abby Phillips for a while but it's a truly unwatchable cacophony of screeching and racial division at this point. Everyone on CNN seems sad or angry. They don't even have an idea of what they stand for, just repeating the talking points of the day from the DSA branch of the Dems.

@JennMGreenberg Everything has gotten more political... I think it started with Obama, because people couldn't make fun of him. So it turned late night comedy into a kind of morality play where you could only make fun of the 'bad people.'

It’s actually weird how political many comedians have gotten. I watched an old Letterman episode, and he was legit funny. No cynicism. No angle. No manipulation. Just funny jokes, dogs doing weird tricks, kids doing talent shows … wholesome simple stuff. Why did it change?

Oddly enough, I just connected this type of low level fake 'hate crime' to what SPLC has been doing. Same with the kid that was killed by the meth dealers (Matthew ?) and turned into a hate crime, and the "MAGA Country" guy that completely faked it. Is there a single example in the last 5-10 years?

In January of 2025 a Noose was found on black City Hall worker, LaTarsha Brown's desk. It was a throw back to the days of the KKK, or as one activist put it, "an act of terror." 🚨Local outrage was high, and protests ensued. 🚨 City officials had a serious hate-crime on their hands... As it turns out, Police would discover, shockingly, that it was actually LaTarsha HERSELF! who made the Noose. And suddenly no one at City Hall cared about racism anymore. No more bullhorns, no more protests, just business as usual.

@mcuban You don't think there's already pressure to reduce token cost? Adding $.50 / 1M will have the greatest impact on the cheapest tokens. So you want to hurt the cheap token providers the most? What's going on Mark?

We should federally tax Tokens at the Provider level. Not a lot. Less than 50c per million tokens. It will accomplish 4 things (at least ) 1. It will push the big AI players to optimize tokenization, caching , routing and localization Which will 2. Reduce energy usage. Saving them in energy costs more than what they paid in tax and reducing strain created by the growth in energy consumption Which will 3. Generate maybe 10 billion dollars a year to start, but over the next ten years could grow 30x to 100x Which will 4. Create a source of funding to pay down the federal debt or deploy, in response to the things AI brings that we don’t expect or don’t like At some point the models will pass it on to customers. Of course. That’s ok. Customers will have the ability to choose between providers. Or to do everything using open source models locally. Thoughts ?

Kara Swisher loves her recent bit. Also loves the guy that did Kash Patel on SNL all of a sudden. There must be an email that goes out “Here are the approved people that need a boost” Swisher did the same thing for the GS Obama person that was a buddy of Epstein “She knew nothing” Nothing phonies than Swisher trying to muster fake laughter or defense of a rich lawyer.

There’s just something so unlikeable about Chelsea. Her delivery, her demeanor, her attitude. She’s been off TV for more than ten years. Must have dirt on people to keep getting booked. There’s just no substance or any humorous material. She represents a small sect of insufferable shrill liberal women with TDS. They find her funny I guess. But other than that… crickets. 🦗 I used to like Chelsea Lately on E! before she went woke. Sad.

@AbolitionEsq Yeah I don’t get this. Do they mean he never wrote a note/article? That would be extremely unlikely. Do they mean no editions were published during his tenure on the board - a non-issue depending on the explanation. Most likely they have no idea what they are talking about.

agree - Star Wars was really the first three movies. Just like any fairy tale, there were heroes and villains, the heroes won and lived 'happily ever after.' Sequels were a thankless task - what if they didn't live happily ever after. Prequels were unnecessary - let's tell the backstory with more detail. Rogue One was a great sci fi movie, Andor was good tv mostly. Solo movie could have been good but was goofy.

NEW from @IraStoll @NickKristof father fought for the Nazis during WWII — something he admitted in his 2024 memoir, Chasing Hope "When I was growing up and other kids talked about their dads heroically battling the Nazis, I kept quiet. I didn't want to admit that my father had actually fought for a year on the same side of the Nazis." freebeacon.com/media/times-co…

OH MY GOSH. @LydiaMoynihan calls out Biden alums Herbie Ziskend and Xochitil Hinojosa for pushing China’s talking points on NewsNight with Abby Phillip: “To say that somehow we are at a disadvantage just feels like PRC talking points because you look at the reality of what China’s facing.” Moynihan: “The red carpet that they rolled out, they didn't do that for Obama. In fact, they actually sent the vice president to greet Donald Trump. So they're they're pulling out all the stops, showing a lot of pageantry and just as much as Donald Trump is buttering up Xi Jinping. I mean, that is the big question. Look, no one knows how this is going to end up. But I just think to say that somehow we are at a disadvantage just feels like PRC talking points because you look at the reality of what China's facing.”

Yes, Gaza had universities, hospitals, fancy restaurants, great beaches, and looked like this. Then the government of Gaza (Hamas) launched a brutal attack on Israel and started a war. Then they fought the war and refused to surrender. Sounds like Hamas destroyed their own people.

Yes. YES, a war and 60,000 casualties - while losing 3,000 or whatever of your best men - is a reasonable response to the murder-rapes of 1,200 of your girls...which we now know occurred. This "won't someone think of the poor, poor Arab terrorists!" shit is suicidal, quite literally.
Not Bob Ross@jason_finazzo

@wil_da_beast630 @JoeGayHistorian Even if true, is this a reasonable response?
