Virtual learning through AI is closer than we think. Individualized education for each student at their own pace. AI learns the best way each student learns and teaches accordingly. Language would be no barrier to education children from all cultures. No live teachers can give the individual attention and expertise that AI will offer. And ten levels of administration gone. No school buildings. Just kids learning. We could solve our municipalities budget issues overnight by welcoming virtual learning. Laugh if you want, but it’s coming.

Paul Johnson, writing in @NRO back in 1993, suggests that the failures of public education are by design: "There is a universal complaint in Europe and North America that the young emerge from high school (and often from university) with only tolerable literacy, unable to write their own language well, ignorant of other languages, knowing little of their country's history, literature, and culture - fitter candidates for a mob than for a citizenry."
