@brian_callaci There is a not-small genre of labor writers who view 1933-35 as the pure struggle of the Depression and the CIO as the unfortunate class compromise. Staughton Lynd wrote extensively from this perspective. Burns is mostly just repackaging William Z. Foster joints.

Post-Edison or whatever, where we fetishize IP and the inventor, that is what we are dealing with. A better example may be James Naismith, who invented basketball but didn’t receive royalties from the spread and commercialization of the game, and who no one thinks should have.

But lots of people like Star Wars to the point of paying money for its various iterations; the same cannot be said about marathon running. To get past that counterpoint, Matt should use a better example than marathons.
