@RoseNotNylund The Law should and must be declared; however, quantitatively, Washer’s preaching is primarily Law driven and far meager in grace. Yes clips exist of Gospel proclamation, but by and large the bulk’s condemnation. It’s all about having a right balance of the Law/Gospel distinction.

Aside from the Shepherd’s Conference comments made by Paul Washer, I will say this for thought: he is one of THE most heavily Law-induced preachers I’ve ever heard… in my experience.

@RockyMitchell6 @rootcausesleuth Amen. However, I do not believe that your system supports that God “makes a sinner alive in Christ.” That is my position, but you believe God gives the sinner life to come to Christ, who is the life Himself.

2 different types of people! Those who love God and those who don’t. Until God makes a sinner alive in Christ the sinner by nature/ birth will rebel against God. Birth meaning you were born with a sin nature. It’s not just that you sin, it is who you are. Can a leopard change his spots?

Calvinism is double-minded doctrine. They have 2 of everything. 2 wills, 2 graces, 2 calls, 2 abilities, 2 loves What other 2’s are in Calvinism?

@genxbaptist @osasisHERESY If by eternal security you mean born again believers persevere, fine. But if you mean a profession w/ no transformation guarantees eternal life, you’re in error. No one living in willful sin has any grounds for present assurance just because they once made a profession of faith.

@faithgracesaved @RockyMitchell6 The prayer itself certainly doesn't save. We cannot produce within ourselves a pure and seeking heart. Apart from God enlightening and drawing a sinner to Himself, no sinner would ever seek after God because none could ever feel their sinfulness or need for a Savior.

I often see people claiming that saying a prayer won't save someone. And then I see scriptures as this👇 Roman 10:9-10 if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. I think Christians would be wiser to claim, Go to Christ with a pure heart. After all the Bible says God searches all hearts. We don't need to be stumbling blocks for Christ we need to be fishers of men, seed sowing Christians. Let me remind you, we were commanded to do so!

@jennmint @BraydonPate @markdbaze @ZachWLambert He's also completely wrong. Jesus would not call "the homosexual out of his sinful lifestyle" because it's not a sinful lifestyle. This is why Jesus never said a word against it. He is speaking from culture not the Bible or teachings of Jesus

I also left the evangelical church (which I realized is not really Christianity but a conservative American political cult) & have come to know Jesus better as a result

When I say it I’m told I don’t understand Calvinism. Maybe a studied Calvinist saying it Carrie’s more weight. Ron Henzel has a whole thread about how Calvinism does NOT teach this.

The fact that I am a part of a church where queer Christians are welcomed, loved and empowered is one of the things I’m most grateful for and proud of as a pastor. The Holy Spirit is moving towards full inclusion, and the Spirit will not be stopped by our fear, hatred and sin.

@wichman_matthew You commit the same fallacy. Just because the text says “world” doesn’t mean it includes each and every person in the world. You also ignore the texts that talk about Christ laying down His life for the church.

Jesus didn't explicitly say anything about homosexuality for a good reason. Let's not kid ourselves about it. The Jewish contexts he was in were in widespread agreement that it was sinful to engage in same-sex sexual practices. The Old Testament clearly calls it out as such. No right-minded person can take Jesus not speaking to the topic of homosexuality as room for approval any more than they can take Jesus not speaking about bestiality as approval. Now, when the gospel went from the Jewish world into the Gentile world it entered a new context. No longer were they preaching to communities who all agreed that homosexuality was a sin. No longer were they talking to people who were tied to the Old Testament and it's moral compass. That's why Paul spoke very specifically to the topic in Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 9. When the gospel went to people who had a problem with same-sex sin, the gospel rebuked that sin. Those who imply that Jesus didn't have an opinion on the topic, or avoided it (usually as an excuse for their own cowardice on the topic, to be honest) are making a harmful mistake. When is it ok to ignore certain sins? When the culture around you is so loudly against them that you don't need to bother waking people's consciences on the topic. That is obviously not the case with same-sex sin in our culture.

Jesus was celibate. Jesus also taught that marriage was between one man and one woman. Given this is the case, how should a Christian who struggles with homosexual attraction live their life?

@CriticalBassTh @jchasedavis You can keep telling yourself that and work against scripture. Do whatever you want to try to get around the truth, but we should show love to the sexually immoral by pointing them to the Christ. We shouldn't affirm it and pat them on the back.
