Thank you to Avery Travis @KXAN_News for a stellar job sharing Yvonne’s story! I’m so proud to have been a part of her breast surgical care, and hope that ALL pregnant / breastfeeding women speak up for their right to a mammo. #bcsm kxan.com/investigations…

This was a terrible town hall. I’m so disappointed in what was said and the representation of the panel which is not reflective of the next gen IR trying our hardest to do honest work and take the best care of patients possible. Lack of IR services is a public health issue. And we choose to protect the status quo at the expense of taking the necessary steps to improve population health outcomes. Absolely disgusting. Shame on @SIRspecialists and @RadiologyACR. We can and should do better.

This study found that women with breast cancer who used vaginal estrogen therapy (vaginal creams or vaginal tablets), compared with no hormone replacement therapy use, did not appear to have an increased risk of early breast cancer-specific mortality. ja.ma/3QpcVL2

Great news. But if you are 40+, don’t wait another year for this. Tell your family doctor/NP that you want a mammogram now, and they are obliged to give you a requisition to have one outside OBSP. If you get pushback, there are tips to advocate for yourself at @my_screening

Today, Ontario is announcing a major change in breast cancer screening. It will include women in their 40s by self referral to screening programs. Our research and scientific evidence have contributed ⁦@Anwilkinson⁩ ⁦@CanadaSBI

I grieve for the woman you would have become and all the difference you would have made in this world. I grieve for the woman I was when you were still here. But, one part of me still exist, I am still your mom. I will honor your life with action. This is only the beginning💛

Our hospital just updated Epic/MyChart to show an estimated discharge date, which is a little dark when your child is on end of life care 😬

@TerrieSnowRN It’s just not a specific risk for lymphedema. Use whatever arm you like, but the limb alerts are not evidence based practice.

@BreastTexas I recently had back surgery. They did not use my breast cancer side arm and a pink bracelet was put on it to remind everyone.. I was really happy they did this when the 2 IVs in my arm were blown by IV push meds.

Awkward ? to ask: does your surgeon routinely send frozen section on lymph nodes? data suggests that a significant % of pts are getting unnecessary dissection (and #lymphedema). Ask your surgeon to hold off on dissection until you sit together & discuss path. #ASBrS23

@6state Omg, this article is SOOOO sensationalist… many women in the UK don’t get easy access to DIEPs, it would’ve been nice if this article had been more informative instead of so unnecessarily dramatic.

Data to counsel women: A two-thirds reduction in breast cancer mortality (14.4% risk of dying from breast cancer within 5 years in 1993–99. This fell to 4.9% for women diagnosed in 2010–15). Huge leap in breast-cancer survival rate. Nature 2023. doi.org/10.1038/d41586…
