Is now a bad time to divulge the enormous scandal that my wife is a dispensationalist? Not in some "she can easily defend it" sort of way, but in a "I'm partial to John MacArthur, whose ministry led me to faith," kind of way. I never cared. There are worse folks who could have discipled my wife from afar, and honestly, I am quite indebted to the man. The final product, of which I am the beneficiary of, cannot be argued with. She is a wonderful wife and mother. Also, what does it change in her purview? Nothing really. She keeps the home well and all of our children are flourishing under her nurturing care. Funny story, our 9 year old a few weeks ago got on me on the way to church about not believing in the rapture. I thought it funny, he was very serious (as he typically is about such things), but unsophisticated. I'm not insecure about it. He's partial to his momma, who is partial to John MacArthur. Plus, I know the statistics. When fathers go to church and practice the faith, the children tend to follow his lead. I anticipate those conversations will have their place down the road. We don't go to a dispensational church and he won't have dispensational infrastructure around him to reinforce the error. He's 9. I'll at least wait till he's taking communion to go deep into eschatology.
