@helloitsolly @posthog Newsletter ads are not suited to customer acquisition as others have said it’s awareness building. You’d get better bang for your buck on Google, Meta or potentially affiliates.

I spent $6000 on paid newsletter sponsorships for Senja I used UTM links to track visits, sign ups and upgrades in @posthog Although we added around 200 email subs + 50 sign ups, only 1 person upgraded Would you: → Stop paid newsletter sponsorships → Keep reworking the creative → Test new newsletters → Change the goal (focus on subscribers not sign ups) #buildinpublic

Few tips: - only run in markets where you get most of your subscribers - A/B test landing pages - constantly work towards getting your quality score to 10 to reduce CPCs - start with exact and phrase match searches only - run search on the Google search only, don’t open up to other channels and search partners DM me if you need any help

Well, what a journey @Uplisting! What started as months of late-night and weekend work while we had other jobs, then years of a tough grind building this sustainable, bootstrapped company from scratch, resulted in an acquisition we could have only ever dreamed of. Andy, Tadej and I started @uplisting in 2017. Since then, we've spoken to each other almost every single day. Aside from my wedding in 2017, we hadn’t been in the same room together until last summer when we caught up in Slovenia. What you can achieve online is mad, and I’m so grateful to these partners (and our significant others) for their grit, hard work, and unwavering belief in our goal. Together with our brilliant, self-sufficient team, we’ve grown sustainably into one of the top software companies in our industry. In 2023, we processed a staggering $400m in bookings for customers. Few companies make it to this point, and we think we’ve done it the right way - on our own terms. I'm always surprised by how many founders don't know their numbers. I recently talked to someone who tried out paid ads but stopped because they were seeing $5 CPCs. They thought that was way too high. I asked them what their average customer lifetime value is. They didn't know 🥲 After a bit of back and forth, it turns out it's over $1500. Assuming a 1% conversion rate that CPC suddenly doesn't seem so bad! Just a reminder that you can't make good marketing decisions if you don't know your numbers.

Now that we've updated the Terms of Service and figured out who is sending traffic via Google Ads, we can reach out to say our Terms have been updated, and it's against our policy to bid on brand keywords. This will likely make them stop, saving you a lot of money in the future.
