LA City Council just told LAPD they can't pull anyone over anymore for expired tags, dead tail lights, cracked windshields, busted mirrors, illegal tint, loud exhaust, or missing plates.
Why? Because out of 72,000 stops in three years, 86% were Black or Latino drivers.
So if your car is busted, you're now invisible to the LAPD. Congratulations.
This rule is intended to reduce discriminatory policing and build community trust.

🇺🇸 Chicago police had Derek Jordan, 42, boxed in an alley in Humboldt Park. He was wanted for a shooting on the expressway. He rammed a bus, a squad car, and hit a pedestrian trying to escape.
Officer Walzer yells "Get out of the f***ing car or I'll kill you"... then fires 6 shots through a tinted window.
Walzer is stripped of his badge. George Floyd's attorneys now represent the family. COPA is investigating.
The bodycam shows a man trying to ram his way through a police perimeter. It also shows an officer who announced he was going to kill someone before he did.

You mostly see this on older homes in AZ and that's because most people were swapping out a swamp cooler and rather than reworking things, you would place the new AC unit in the same place as the old swamp cooler. Homes built within the last 30 years or so almost all have units on the ground.

This man is in Phoenix, Arizona visiting his daughter. It is 108* there!🥵
He noticed this unit on top of her house and wondered why it isn’t on the ground like most houses. He asked her and she said that was the way it was when they bought the house.
Why would this be on top of the roof? I’ve lived in 5 different states and never seen them on the roof.
And notice how big it is, it’s huge!

It's impossible for me to answer your question. I would need to know details of the cases, how many offenses, etc. In other words, if you are arrested/charged for your 5th drug-dealing crime, your jail sentence should be more impactful than your first offense. Race is irrelevent to me.

Yes, I do. I think there should be jail time for first offenses, but minimal amount of time. I am even fine with probation and no jail time for many types of non-violent, first-offense drug possession.
When bodily harm takes place (physical violence), that's a different ballgame that should require appropriate jail time depending on the situation.

Well, yeah. I thought it was obvious that it was my opinion. And judges/juries get it wrong all of the time. That is why there are countless examples of VIOLENT criminals getting released over and over and over after serving minimal prison time and continuing to assault, rape, etc.
