This is going to make people crash out but I added a 0.005% dilution of bleach to my sinus rinse recipe (1/4 tsp per liter) and it's genuinely life changing and makes me wonder wtf has been growing in my sinuses for the last 35 years

20 years for a non-violent crime and no criminal record is ridiculous. People who commit physical assault almost never get a sentence this harsh. Effectively 0% of the time. In most cases, they get less than 5 years and serve minimal jail time - if any. But some words deserves 20 years? Absurd.

They were in absolute fear for their lives. They would have hung these people if they thought they could get away with. Now crying because they have to pay for their hate.
Brian Allen@allenanalysis

A Georgia couple terrorized a Black family at a child’s birthday party. Confederate flags. Racial slurs. Guns. Death threats. Joe Torres got 20 years. Kyla Norton got 15. This is what accountability looks like when the system works.

@IanRunkle It's a trap. Either they're going to kidnap you (unlikely) or this driver needs retraining. Customers are not covered under the company's insurance, and therefore cannot touch the package until it is marked "delivered."

@theo_nash Here is the thing, the paper was not great. But a functional society does not have people clearly confused about base reality as educators. That man should be in therapy and mental institutions not a classroom.

The freedom to think and say what you want does not extend to getting the grade you want, especially when the essay (reproduced down thread) clearly did not follow the assignment. I might have been nice and given it 5 points (since it was, mirabile dictu, clearly written). But the instructors’ comments are clear, balanced, and fair. If all you want to do is share your own views without any critical reflection, and assume that doing so constitutes completing any given assignment, you probably shouldn’t be at university.
TPUSA_OU@TurningPointOU

For a psychology course at the University Oklahoma, Samantha Fulnecky was asked to write a 650-word essay reacting to an article about how people are perceived based on societal expectations of gender. In her essay, Fulnecky argued that traditional gender roles should not be considered stereotypes. She cited the Bible to support her stance that eliminating gender in society would be "detrimental" because that would put people "farther from God's original plan for humans." She received zero points out of 25 on the essay. Transgender professor, Mel Curtis, said Ms. Fulnecky, failed to use empirical evidence/and called parts of her essay offensive. "To call an entire group of people 'demonic' is highly offensive, especially a minoritized population," the instructor wrote in the online grading platform. Fulnecky says she followed the assignment guidelines and should not be penalized for her religious viewpoints. OU officials point to the formal grade-appeal process as the student awaits a decision. We at Turning Point OU stand with Samantha. We should not be letting mentally ill professors around students. Clearly this professor lacks the intellectual maturity to set her own bias aside and take grading seriously. Professors like this are the very reason conservatives can't voice their beliefs in the classroom. Kuddos to Samantha for leading by example and standing up for what she believes in. @UofOklahoma , do better! #universityofoklahoma #trans #woke @ou_president @uofoklahoma @TPUSA @GovStitt @theoudaily @ounightly @SenadorJett @senmullin

So I was complaining before about women’s sweaters being lower quality than men’s sweaters, but here is an actual comparison. These are both originally $120, but you get a better product (and more material) with the men’s one. If I were to get one it would be the men’s sweater because it just feels significantly nicer and would last significantly longer. Do women care that companies feel like they can get away with selling you objectivity inferior products at the same price?

Matt Damon recounts what he told Ben Affleck when he questioned him about the filming of THE ODYSSEY “When I got home, Ben [Affleck] was asking me about it. And I said, ‘Every location on this movie would have been the toughest location on any film I’ve ever done. And every day of shooting would have been the toughest day of shooting on any other movie I’ve ever done.’” (via @empiremagazine)

High heels were originally worn by men. The style comes from 10th century Persian cavalry officers who wanted shoes to sit more securely in the stirrup. In the 17th century, high heels were a sign of nobility, as they were worn by European kings and their couriers. It wasn't until the 18th century when the tall heel became feminized and Western men largely shifted to more sober, utilitarian attire. However, the high heel continued on in the 20th century — often worn by musicians, creative types, and men who resisted conventional norms of their day. It was also widely worn in the 1970s. In his book House of Nutter, Lance Richardson describes the men who clomped up and down Savile Row in their fashionable high heels as they went to see their bespoke tailor Tommy Nutter. That said, in my opinion, the person in the original tweet would look better if they wore a slightly looser leg that fit cleanly over the shoe. IMO, a stacked denim leg looks more at home with side-zip boots.
