@BrianByrnesMB Yes! Taper isn’t ideal from that perspective but for the vast majority pensions are pretty straightforward. As an industry we’re probably sometimes guilty of making them sound more complicated than they are!

Another Budget with rumour and speculation about flat-rate pension tax relief / tax-free cash cuts, another Budget when neither happened. Disappointing government didn’t commit to a Pensions Tax Lock but can we please not do this again in 12 months’ time?

@PensionsMonkey I would say though, they always said MAPS would go first and there would be a gap. Big question is how long is the gap…..

@PensionsMonkey Just doesn’t seem to be anyone’s priority at the moment. FCA, PDP, MAPS, Pensions Minster all have bigger fish to fry and point at other parties when asked about QPDS 🤷‍♂️

So commercial pension dashboards are being put on the back burner. This is going to piss a lot of people off. Gov making a calculated decision but will lose a lot of goodwill and may jeopardise the success of the whole project questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statem…

@PensionsMonkey Bit of a leap to say if you are starting with £400k in your pension, you're going to have a "miserable, cold, impoverished old age"? I know it would be a stretch to make 400k last for a full comfortable retirement but you're also not going to be truly destitute

@John_Stepek Basically we already have the system that Italy seems to have that everyone loves at the moment, we just need to charge a bit more for it

On non-dom taxation: my guess is that the best (ie most lucrative) way to tax non-doms would be to simply raise the annual fee and make it kick in earlier. Charge a predictable rate, apply a benchmark price rise each year - basically like a members' club.

Is the government going to hike auto-enrolment contributions? Not until the pensions market is working better, pensions minister Emma Reynolds has said at the CMIT conference.

Sorry but why isn’t absolutely every single person talking about the fact that those two astronauts that are stuck in Space are now hearing mysterious heartbeat sounds and no one know what it is. THIS ENTIRE STORY IS INSANE
