Regarding the LIRR Strike. I’m a Republican and none of my Republican friends will want to hear this, but the truth of the matter is that the a-holes in this entire situation are the MTA workers and their union. If you know any MTA employees (I know about a half dozen), you know that they do VERY, VERY well in salary, benefits and retirement. Yes, even the blue collar workers. I’m aware of it personally. Yet every couple of years or so they cry poverty and threaten to strike. They are a greedy bunch who could give a shit about the people who rely upon them. It’s the truth. I’m the only one with the actual guts to actually say it. F them all.

If @GovKathyHochul is serious about settling the @LIRR workers’ contract and avoiding strike action, she would pull the poisonous anti-worker lawyer Gary Dellaverson out of the bargaining . But in truth she hired him to do what precisely what’s occurring , which is him tossing up “gimmicks,” not the real hourly wage increases which would bring settlement. If she wanted to settle this contract she would not have hired the anti-worker hatchet-man, destructive Gary Dellaverson , to represent her in bargaining. His involvement dramatically increases the chances of @LIRR workers shutting the stem down. Early this morning, TA Surface officers led by AVP Alexander Kemp and TAS VP Gary Rosario performed 19A safety inspections at two bus depots: Jackie Gleason in Brooklyn, and Fresh Pond in Queens.
These inspections revealed scores of buses with safety defects that could not be placed into passenger service.
Due to these findings, union officers will be conducting more routine inspections of the entire bus fleet to ensure operator and rider safety.

If @LIRR workers take strike action the blame lies solely on @GovKathyHochul , who is unprecedentedly rejecting the recommendations of two independent federal mediation panels established by the National Mediation Board. Hochul is single-handed triggering this strike. The board recommended reasonable raises , averaging around 3.5% annual over the life of the contract , but Hochul would rather strand 300,000 daily riders from Nassau , Suffolk and the rest of downstate New York.
