MIN: Do you know how much new energy China put online last year? BURGUM: Intermittent or base load? MIN: All energy. 543 GW. How much was renewable? 434 GW. BURGUM: But only when the wind is blowing and sun is shining MIN: Meanwhile, the US put up 53 GW of new energy last year -- less than 10% of China. You're clear bias against renewables is harming our national security.

Lost in the news this week: the real story behind Palm Beach International becoming Trump International is not the renaming. It is the coercion that produced it and the extraordinary terms hidden inside the deal. County staff told commissioners that refusing would put state transportation funding and grant assurances at risk. DeSantis has already removed state attorneys and school board members who crossed him. That is the climate one Democratic commissioner cast her deciding vote in. And the agreement itself is not a normal honorary naming. The Trump family company retains the right to pick vendors, license the name to third parties, and sell branded merchandise off-site. This is not an honor bestowed as much as it is a shakedown. theguardian.com/us-news/2026/m…

Let me get this straight. Trump sued his own IRS for $10 billion. His own Justice Department is now considering settling that case. And one of the terms on the table is that the IRS drops all audits of Trump, his family, and his businesses PERMANENTLY. He’s using the full weight of the federal government to protect himself and his family from accountability and potentially pay himself BILLIONS of your tax dollars. nytimes.com/2026/05/12/bus…

You’ve heard it said that Republicans are fiscally conservative and Democrats just want to spend. Is it true? Check out this chart on US debt. Surprised? We’re not. #DemsAbroad #VoteBlue #TrumpEconomy Details: Federal debt as a share of GDP, split by presidential party. Method: yearly change in debt/GDP is compounded only during the years each party held the presidency. When one party is in office, the other line stays flat. Data: FRED (GFDEGDQ188S), annualized from quarterly. Result: over this sample, Republicans accumulate more of the increase in the debt-to-GDP ratio.🧵

Trump is suing the IRS, which he oversees, for $10 billion. Both sides want to settle to avoid going to court. Aside from money, one of the settlement terms is to drop all audits of himself and his family. He’s stealing $10B from taxpayers and covering up his tax crimes. You get that, right? nytimes.com/2026/05/12/bus…

BREAKING: FBI insiders say Kash Patel is FAKING his crime stats — and the numbers prove it. Kash Patel walked into a Senate hearing on Tuesday, waving a giant black placard of arrest numbers like a used car salesman flashing a sticker price. Current and former FBI agents say those numbers are as real as a three-dollar bill. According to a bombshell report from MS Now, backed by half a dozen law enforcement sources, Patel quietly changed FBI counting rules to inflate arrest statistics. Under the new policy, if an FBI agent is simply present while ICE or local police make an arrest, it gets counted as an FBI arrest. That's how Patel got to claim 45,000 violent offenders arrested — double the previous year. He didn't catch more criminals. He just changed the math. "They are absolutely padding the stats," one current FBI official told MS Now. "Comparing 2025 to 2024 is not apples to apples." The Most Wanted list manipulation is even more brazen. Patel boasted about capturing 8 of the top 10 most wanted fugitives in 14 months. What he didn't mention is that several of those fugitives were added to the list hours before their arrests — including one captured just 73 minutes after being added. The FBI had been planning those operations for days in advance. The last-minute additions were pure theater, engineered to juice Patel's scorecard. Meanwhile, the real numbers tell a different story. Under Patel's "record" leadership, the FBI has lost 2,800 agents in a single year — four times the normal attrition rate. Yet, Patel told senators that morale at the bureau has "never been better," to their visible disbelief. When senators tried pressing Patel on his branded bourbon giveaways, his government jet joyrides to VIP events, his taxpayer-funded security detail for his girlfriend, and his retaliatory polygraphing of dozens of agents, he waved his placard and called everything "baseless." Sen. Patty Murray had the perfect response: "If you want to pass out liquor or pop bottles in a locker room, stick to podcasting." This is Trump's FBI — fake stats, real dysfunction, and a director more focused on his personal brand than public safety. Please like and share this everywhere to spread the news!

@merissahansen17 @BrianForNJ Close your windows. It could always be a race track! Many years ago people in one county overwhelmingly voted down a proposal to allow zoning outside of cities. When a race track moved in a year later, they screamed for the county to kick em out. They couldn’t. Oops.

@WBTVSteveO @jamieclimate If it didn’t work then what makes you think it would work now? And in fact we are already taking more oil out…and prices still going up last I checked (with daily variations of course).

@jamieclimate @BrianForNJ Depleting the SPR in Biden years had little effect ln lowering gas prices….but now, we sure could use all that oil. And to think, Trump had a deal in 2020 to top it off at $24/barrel. But it was an election year. Schumer vowed “not to give Trump that victory.”

Suspending the federal gas tax would take at most up to 18 cents off a gallon. The typical household uses roughly 1,000 gallons of gas a year, so that means suspending the gas tax would save households around $180. In contrast, passing a Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax would send $700-1,200 per American household if oil prices stay high — make it progressive, and working class families stand to earn even more. And instead of draining federal revenues, the windfall tax would get the money from Big Oil companies, who are raking in massive war time profits.

@Fahrenthold @BrianForNJ Wow! That’s awful. To think, Biden could have paid $300M. HE knows how government works. I guess Trump still doesn’t realize saving money is not a priority. You’d think he was a businessman or something..or…oh.. yeah…he is.

NEW: The cost of President Trump's plan to repair the Reflecting Pool has jumped by 88 percent, to $13.1M, gov't records show. The price appears to include a 20 percent profit margin for Trump's handpicked contractor, who got the job in a no-bid contract. nytimes.com/2026/05/11/us/…

Americans are paying too much for gas, diesel, and fuel across the board. I am introducing legislation to suspend the federal fuel taxes on gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel for 18 months so families, truckers, businesses, and the travel industry can get some real relief. People need a break.
Nancy Cordes@nancycordes

In a phone interview, President Trump told me that he wants to pause the 18 cent federal gas tax “for a period of time.” “I think it’s a great idea,” he said. “Yup, we’re going to take off the gas tax for a period of time, and when gas goes down, we’ll let it phase back in.”

This morning @RepSaraJacobs and I conducted an unannounced oversight visit to the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. ICE allowed the two of us to enter the facility, consistent with federal law and recent court rulings that have reaffirmed the right of Members of Congress to inspect detention facilities without prior notice. Our staff, however, were barred from joining us. As we attempted to meet with detainees, ICE personnel handed us a memorandum dated today from Todd Lyons, the acting ICE Director. The new policy is designed to make it more difficult for Members of Congress to conduct oversight with transparency. Under this policy, Members can no longer meet with detainees unless we identify them by name at least two business days in advance and produce a signed consent form from each individual. The American people deserve to know what is happening inside these facilities. Congressional oversight is how they find out. A policy designed to make oversight more difficult is a policy designed to keep the public in the dark.
