If you see Project Hail Mary this weekend, I hope you'll remember how I told you over 3 years ago that stuff like this was going to explode in pop culture. -From ironic cynicism to post-ironic sincerity. -Embracing the "cringe" & the celebration of the earnest "try-hard." -From deconstructing the past, to a nostalgia for some positive "vibe" we lost in the deconstruction. -The rejection of Fight Club-era nihilism. -The ability to stare at the apocalypse in front of you and be hopeful instead of a "doomer."

Always so obvious whenever somebody engages with the movies this time of year with a sports team mentality. A laughable argument on its own when you look at the New Hollywood films (who PTA is indebted to) that were topical but still hold up but the rest gives the whole game away

IMAX having this aspect ratio exclusive to only be in their special little cinemas is anti-art. Make the fact the screen in the IMAX cinema is huge as the selling point, not that you can only see the full authentic vision of the director in that specific cinema.

@alejandroxpadi IMAX is adding more projectors to theaters/ restoring projectors that theaters had that were broken even a new theatre in la, this stuff only started gaining a ton of traction in like 2023 so I’d say it’s doing pretty good by

It’s not even just about the locations that can even support the format, but the projectionists running them, as well as the prints that are available! I live within an hour of a screen that can show the prints but we don’t always get them! Same goes for dual laser!
