With the unfortunate demise of Tweetbot, my time on Twitter has plummeted. Can’t believe some of you willingly choose to use this atrocious official app 😂 So I’m going to call it quits after 13 years. I’ll periodically check notifications, but other than that…sayonara! 👋

@ChaseThomason Hi Chase, you may be interested in a new BAMS article I was involved in that touches on a long standing, incorrect interpretation that rotation of tornadoes originates from aloft within the storm. doi.org/10.1175/BAMS-D…

Check out this landspout 🌪️ taken today around noon. Spin originates near the ground and not within the storm like a normal tornado. Pretty cool! #utwx 📍 Daybreak, South Jordan, Utah 📷 Brandon Isom

@keithsherburn @DopplerChase @AMSSevereStorms in addition to concerns with federal employees, many universities are extremely resistant to use travel funds internationally unless they were specifically written as such when the grant was awarded

Don't forget to take the AMS survey on a potential international location for a future SLS Conference - the survey closes today! Your input would be very much appreciated! See your email from 'AMS Meetings' for the link!

Reviewer 1: best initial submission I've read in a while Reviewer 2: great manuscript that definitely fills a gaps in our understanding ... Reviewer 3: I don’t see anything here that’s particularly novel, reject

@RissaRWx I’ve found similarly frustrating quality for Fox on many of my apple devices. Peacock Telemundo much better quality on apple tv. Even the standard apps on my TV are working better than the fox app on apple

Oklahoma Tornadoes 🌪️@OKTornadoDB·
By request, the "glowing tornado" - The Blackwell F5 of May 25, 1955. The likely cause is St. Elmo's fire, but theories persist, too. It heavily damaged or destroyed a chunk of Black and claimed 20 lives. Thankfully the odd glowing helped to warn people of the oncoming tornado.

@BriceCoffer A few days ago, I tried uploading an old ppt file as a test and it gave me next day pickup as an option at that location. I also called that location to confirm that they have poster printing and that everything is functioning normally and they said yes.

Not realizing NCAR computing resources have a scheduled outage the week before I head to a conference is exactly how I wanted to start my Monday 🤬

trying something new and sharing a pre-print, mainly because I’m pretty excited about this and I spent a long time working on something I wasn’t excited about…🤷‍♂️

Low-level mesocyclone intensification does not appear to require additional horizontal vorticity in the forward flank; instead, the dominant contributor to vertical vorticity is from the environmental horizontal vorticity

Case of the Mondays? Procrastinate a bit more by taking a look at what I’ve been working on… What can the origins of inflow air into supercell low-level mesocyclones tell us about the source of their rotation? *Not peer-reviewed, any feedback welcome! arxiv.org/abs/2210.03715
