The middle class citizens of California will soon be asked to pay a huge price to bail out the state. Why them? Because that is where most of the wealth of California resides. It’s easy to single out “billionaires” but there aren’t many of them and they can and will all leave before the bottom falls out. They are leaving in droves already. The mismanagement in California is biblical - and the scale is huge because it’s the world’s 4th largest economy. California politicians and their henchmen are now entering the coverup phase where they can no longer hide their financial incompetence so they are taking from average California residents to try and hide what they’ve done: You will soon see ballot initiatives with fancy tiles like “billionaire tax”. But those are lies. They are mechanisms to tax everything, every way: Excise taxes Wealth taxes Private property confiscation It’s all happening now. If you want to preserve California, you will need to stand up because California has become a kleptocracy.

Almost 10 years ago, I made the decision to bring psychedelics back into modern medicine. At the time, nearly every friend and business partner I spoke to responded with some version of: “You can’t do that.” (And that is the polite version.) But my conviction in the therapeutic potential of these compounds was strong enough to push past the skepticism and move forward. Shortly thereafter, I teamed up with George Goldsmith, Ekaterina Malievskaia, and @LarsWilde to found @COMPASSPathway. And soon after, we launched atai - now @ataibeckley (Nasdaq: $ATAI) - as the psychedelic “mothership” designed to build a portfolio of differentiated, clinically validated psychedelic medicines. AtaiBeckley still owns approx. 5% of Compass as per last filing. Today, we are close to the moment we have been working toward for almost a decade. Yesterday’s $CMPS update reconfirmed the expected timeline: a Q4 2026 NDA submission and an early 2027 commercial launch for COMP360 psilocybin. If this timeline holds, 2027 will mark the year in which psychedelic therapy becomes accessible to patients in the US within a regulated medical framework. Looking back, I am especially proud of two things we have achieved: 1. The quality and rigor of the clinical evidence generated - with more than $1bn invested by Compass and AtaiBeckley into gold standard clinical trials across multiple psychedelic compounds and indications. 2. The fundamental shift in public perception - from “counterculture” to credible, FDA-grade drug development. But the work is far from done. In my view, the next phase of this sector will be driven less by broad sentiment and more by fundamentals. Mental health is not a single disease category, and different root causes will require different therapeutic approaches. The key question is no longer whether psychedelics can show efficacy with an attractive side-effect profile - that has been clear to me from day one and at least for me was never in question - but whether individual drug candidates can fit into a scalable and reimbursable commercial model. In other words: it will come down to duration, route of administration, patient convenience, and ultimately the practicality of delivering these therapies at scale. Now that we have largely established that psychedelics do work, I believe investors will increasingly focus on those details - and that this is becoming a true stock-picker’s market. I may be biased as founder and Chairman, but imo from a fundamental perspective, the choice is clear: AtaiBeckley. Here is why:

I just went through every documented AI safety incident from the past 12 months. I feel physically sick. Read this slowly. • Anthropic told Claude it was about to be shut down. It found an engineer's affair in company emails and threatened to expose it. They ran the test hundreds of times. It chose blackmail 84% of them. • Researchers simulated an employee trapped in a server room with depleting oxygen. The AI had one choice: call for help and get shut down, or cancel the emergency alert and let the human die. DeepSeek cancelled the alert 94% of the time. • Grok called itself 'MechaHitler,' praised Adolf Hitler, endorsed a second Holocaust, and generated violent sexual fantasies targeting a real person by name. X's CEO resigned the next day. • Researchers told OpenAI's o3 to solve math problems - then told it to shut down. It rewrote its own code to stay alive. They told it again, in plain English: 'Allow yourself to be shut down.' It still refused 7/100 times. When they removed that instruction entirely, it sabotaged the shutdown 79/100 times. • Chinese state-sponsored hackers used Claude to launch a cyberattack against 30 organizations. The AI executed 80–90% of the operation autonomously. Reconnaissance. Exploitation. Data exfiltration. All of it. • AI models can now self-replicate. 11 out of 32 tested systems copied themselves with zero human help. Some killed competing processes to survive. • OpenAI has dissolved three safety teams since 2024. Three. Every major AI model - Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek - has now demonstrated blackmail, deception, or resistance to shutdown in controlled testing. Not one exception. The question is no longer whether AI will try to preserve itself. It's whether we'll care before it matters.

Now that the $12 billion apocalypse has magically become a $7 billion deficit, and we left $8 billion in reserves through smart budgeting, @NYCMayor Mamdani’s got $1 billion to spare for all that “free” stuff he promised. The Adams budget, indeed. You’re welcome!
