Nice to see that all the over enthusiastic small building suppliers have given up promoting the lie of 'Consent Free Small Buildings' after the initial flourish of marketing. Seems the Advertising Standards Authority about misleading ads are not on holiday. @BrookingRachel hello

@MrHilariouskiwi I have been trying to track down where national environmental standard is at. Asked at annual review today and it is waiting to be gazetted. It has not yet been gazetted so the resource management change required is not yet in force. NZF getting ahead of themselves.

@MrHilariouskiwi Combining resource and building consents into one thing is a problem that I often hear and it greatly annoys me. I will continue to point it out when relevant and I happen upon it.

Dear Rachel, Please do not ever go into bat protecting the lying scum in The National Party. Perceptions - as you well know - are everything. And here are the perceptions of some Twitter folks on Penks lying. He deliberately led people to believe 'no consents'. @BrookingRachel

@MrHilariouskiwi @matroked To be fair there are both building consents and resource consents. Penk is in charge of the legislation for building consents - not resource consents. Bishop has said there will be RMA national direction for the resource consent part.

Herewith an example demonstrating why Greasy Rat Chris Penk cannot be trusted. Auckland region 👇🏻 He lied that anyone can just go ahead and build a minor dwelling with no consents required. Bullshit.

Electoral Commission just told the Justice SC that the changes to electoral law the Govt are pushing through (limiting enrolment to 13 days prior) won’t make vote counting any faster. It will take 20 days to count all the specials. They noted they didn’t recommend the change.

🔨🔨On @the_postnz: Kāinga Ora has more than halved the number of building contractors it employs as its house building programme shrinks. Another datapoint marking out the construction downturn.

Moving dawn pōwhiri, for the 40th anniversary of the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior. Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei led the powerful list of speakers who spoke of the importance of activism against the destruction of our environment back then & it’s still needed today. @GreenpeaceNZ

The Parliament website won't even load for the purpose of finding the email address of the Finance and Expenditure Committee to email in my submission saying that I couldn't upload it before the deadline because the website wouldn't work!

The exceptions have been Auckland and Christchurch. Both have been laggards, for different reasons. Auckland wants to ‘downzone’ flood prone various areas but legally can’t (the law only lets them downzone). Christchurch has just farted around for years, delaying upzoning.

Big news today. Have been working with @MayorWayneBrown and @RichardHills_ on this very important reform to upzone Auckland. This is complicated - RMA gymnastics as the Mayor calls it - but basic thread incoming 1/

Budget 2025 is a disaster for our environment. Conservation investment is MIA while 75% of native species face extinction. The Govt is gambling with $133B in natural assets and our economy. This is environmental neglect, not leadership. We demand better. forestandbird.org.nz/resources/no-n…

In the midst of a climate and biodiversity crisis, the Government is ploughing $200 million into underwriting new gas fields and scrapping major nature funds. Make it make sense 🤦‍♀️ Our response to #Budget2025: wwf.org.nz/news/general/n…

ALL STAGES is different from using urgency for various stages of a bill’s progress. ALL STAGES has no ability for submissions. ALL STAGES leads to unnecessary & inefficient mistakes. ALL STAGES without a regulatory impact stmt when policy worked on for “18mths” cynical or chaotic

At 5pm yesterday, the Treasury informed the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions Te Kauae Kaimahi (NZCTU) it has been barred from attending the Budget lock-up on 22 May. This is the first time the CTU has been prevented from attending a Budget lock-up in living memory

It's not hypocrisy -- hypocrisy is trivial. This is insincerity. ACT plainly does not believe in the first principle of its own law Decide for yourselves whether ACT is serious about regulatory standards, or if they just want a form of regulation that serves their insincerity

ACT's Regulatory Standards Bill proposal includes the principle: "the law should not adversely affect rights and liberties, or impose obligations, retrospectively" ACT's Brooke van Velden yesterday led retrospective changes to the Equal Pay Act 2020, passed under urgency
