@hwjohnston7 Wizard of Oz. It starts out black and white and transitions to color after about 10 minutes.

Who could've thought the only way to detekt human-written content today would be typos we've mastered not to make?

@MalindaDetweil1 It does. I find that as I get better with editing, there are fewer mistakes to fix overall on subsequent reads.

This is the Quidditch Problem. If it doesn't need to be there, it shouldn't. I find a lot of what happens in Harry Potter could just be cut out. It has absolutely no bearing on the fact that Voldemort is alive and well and wants to kill Harry. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the books but I found myself asking "where the hell is this going?" most of the time. So, how do you get to have these fun moments? Does the story have to be super serious all the time? No. I would just make them matter. Don't just have this fun moment be a throwaway. For example, in the Guardians, Seldin, Simon, Jasra, and Leon are all playing poker together. It shows these four friends interacting in a natural setting, how their personalities playoff of each other, and it gives insight into Jasra's foresight ability. How it can be used and what its limitations are.

Writing thought: Characters with hobbies can be really fun. My question is: does that hobby need to interact somehow with the story's plot? Or can it just be a fun extra thing? I think it depends on how much time the hobby gets pushed in the story. What do you think?

Despite what mathematicians would say, can confirm these numbers are gospel. In fact, many would maintain they're under-estimates.

I wrote this chapter in book 2 with the perception that if you didn't read book 1, that's on you. But after reading all the Harry Potters, and J.K.'s insistence to recap everything, I thought, maybe I'd try it. So, I rewrote the chapter with new readers in mind. Ugh. I hate repeating what the reader should already know at this point. But a little bit of refresh isn't a terrible idea. I can't decide.

People think writing a book is all coffee, deep thoughts, and aesthetic notebooks. Adorable. Writing a book is mostly arguing with one sentence for 40 minutes and pretending that counts as progress. It does. #AuthorsLife #BookWriting #WritingCommunity

@BruceRF1 @AnthonyLaFauci Line level editing means nothing if at a developmental level the book reads like a mess. I'd rather have a few typos then cut someone’s hand off in one chapter to have them high five someone later with the same hand lol

I keep hearing about writers feeling like they don’t need editors anymore… is this a real thing? Do you really feel that way?

Fellow #writers, do you ever look at a word and say to yourself, that can’t possibly be spelled right? So you double check the proper spelling and it’s right, but it still looks wrong to you?

@SDDonovan I'm pretty much the same way. Pizza is one of the few exceptions. Fries are definitely fork food. The grease and the salt always eat my cuticles.

Random post/thought. I always eat pizza and burgers with a fork and knife. The very idea of getting my hands dirty with grease and sauce makes me shiver and feel dirty.
