I just open-sourced QueryLens - a Rails engine that lets you ask your database questions in plain English. "How many users signed up this month?" → SQL → results. All in one interface. Blazer (gem) meets Claude/ChatGPT, etc. Free, MIT licensed, works with any LLM. github.com/bryanbeshore/q… 1/4

It's remarkable how much of my work is completely automated w/ AI, and yet, I still am necessary. The amount of time I personally have to spend working just isn't going down. Instead, the leverage of my own time is going up. Every second I spend not working becomes more painful

@harjtaggar @paulg I can unequivocally say that I was COMPLETELY wrong about this last month. PG's essay still remains firmly in tact.

Maker's Schedule, Manager's Schedule by @paulg use to be 100% true for me. Now, I can ship while in a meeting or significantly more easily before or after meetings. Alike many, I have shipped every day for the past month. It’s fun to build a lot and to be able to prototype with customers in real time (or near real time.)

@JonathanTurley We are completely done with the wokearati, and simple dumbfuckery of states that operate backwards

...The reason they are done in Florida is that the state has maintained low taxes as well as high-performing schools and services. Rather than put your hopes on peer pressure, try good policies and see what happens...

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is asking "high net worth" taxpayers to "go down to Palm Beach and see who you can bring back home" "to support the generous social programs we have in our state." There is another novel approach: change your policies to make people want to come back...

Can someone explain why F1 has gone down this battery/EV route? We already have Formula E for that. Why not just let F1 be about the best and most powerful combustion engines?

@realEstateTrent Would love to go back to the world where taking your kids to the airport to see takeoffs and landings was akin to going to the park.

UPDATE, 3 years later: I no longer feel this way. I really regret not having more kids. If you think you can handle it - mentally & financially, & are confident in your skills as a parent, just keep having kids. I'm still in my 30s and am 2/3 done having 4 kids at home :(
Chris Koerner@mhp_guy

I had all 4 of my kids in my 20s. Did it set my career back? Maybe? They take a ton of time. But I'll be 47 when they're all out of the house and that's pretty baller.

Likely the picture of a SaaS model that gets through the next cycle

.@jasonfried said it perfectly: "Your only competition is your costs." Keep costs low, keep the team small, make stuff you want to use. You don't need the whole world. You just need enough of a small world.

@liron Testing out better stack at the moment. All seems good. Would rather have managed service + s3 retention.

They quoted us $15,000 for auto generated docs. Instead we built a pipeline that does this for tokens in a few days. Would have paid $300/mo for it max. Instead, we churn from the core product + have a great self hosted/managed experience.

As a business owner, one of my favorite Agent skills is /cash One command and it pulls live from the Brex API (checking, treasury, card balances) and Stripe API (balance, open invoices, recent transactions) in parallel, formats everything into a clean table, and flags anything unusual. Built it in 5 minutes. Use it 5 times a day at least!! The real unlock with Skills is that they compound. /morning pulls my calendar, unread emails, todos, and changelog. /todo reviews my session and updates my task list etc. As @trq212 said, skills are underrated.
