Kyle Rittenhouse is a patriot! I am proud to stand with him and to have his support for re-election to the Senate. In 2020, when "mostly peaceful" mobs were burning entire city blocks to the ground, assaulting and killing people, and destroying lives and livelihoods, a few brave men stepped up to defend their neighbors. Kyle, along with dozens of other peaceful men, stood in front of innocent civilians and local businesses. During the riots, he was famously filmed administering first aid to injured people, extinguishing fires, and cleaning graffiti off a local high school. He displayed every virtue we want from our young men when left-wing violence takes over the streets, as it increasingly does. When he fired shots in self-defense, he had been sprinting away from a violent mob, obviously trying to escape. One of the rioters caught up to him and cracked him in the head with a skateboard, knocking him down. Another then jump kicked him in the face as he tried to get up. Others then swarmed him, and one of them had a gun pointed at him. Then, after all that, Kyle acted in self-defense. As it turned out, one of the two men killed by Kyle in self-defense was on probation following a child sexual abuse conviction. The other had been convicted of domestic abuse twice. None of this is remotely disputable. The hatred he endures is the result of depravity that causes those afflicted to call evil good and good evil. I stand with Kyle, and am proud to see this young man take up leadership in the conservative movement, helping to elect conservative champions across the United States. OK guys, you know that thing that the elites and elite wannabes in evangelicalism do? Where they try to contextualize some obviously bad thing and explain to us that we only think it’s bad because we haven’t done the proper reading or graduated from the right programs? That kind of thing? Think of David French trying to explain that we’re all dumb and actually less Christian because we’re not embracing gay marriage now. Or JD Greear trying to get us all to adopt “pronoun hospitality.” Yeah, we don’t need to do that with a bad Trump post. It’s bad. It’s OK to just say, it’s bad. We don’t have to try to twist ourselves into intellectual pretzels to explain to normal people that they’re not seeing what they’re obviously seeing. We don’t have to do what they do.
