I hired a categorically obese person to work the front desk of a gym I was a manager at in my 20’s.
I got so much flack from co-workers because this person didn’t “look healthy.”
He was delightful AF, willing to work shifts no one wanted, and genuinely smilled during the obscenely early hours we had to be there.
I stood by it because he was a great person
And then you know what he went and did?
He busted his ass after every shift and lost the weight because his job came with a free gym membership
It’s been a couple of decades and I still think about this
Because I live for the people who are underestimated and then shove all that smack people were taking straight down their throat
He still inspires me to this day

If you went to the movies and got food and a beverage to have during the movie, when the movie was over would you just leave all the trash on your seat tray or collect all your trash and throw it out yourself? Couple next to me last night left so much trash. I was kinda shocked.

GM. Thunderstorms rolling in this morning. When we were kids, Grandma would tell us the sound of the thunder rolling across the sky was the just angels in Heaven going bowling. It’s something I still think about to this day 😂 GM

He’s walking with confidence after his knee surgery. Trip him. And then have the dogs run into his knee while he’s down.

Well, let the complications begin. They’re hanging onto him at the hospital an extra couple of days for observation and treatment, but it doesn’t seem dire. Hopefully home tomorrow evening.

Today I traveled to Sacramento to advocate for critical funding and support for housing, homelessness, wildfire recovery, and continued preparation for the 2028 Games. I met with Governor Gavin Newsom, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, Senate Pro Tem Monique Limón, and other leaders.
For so many years, homelessness only went up in Los Angeles, and housing was dramatically underbuilt. Now, we have reversed these longstanding trends, and we are seeking to continue our strong partnership with the state to accelerate our progress.
