American medical student just did “horrifying math” on her student loans - Her amount due is $396,945.67 - Annual interest rate: 5.875% - Monthly interest accrual: $1,943.38 Her monthly resident paycheck is $4,054.98 HALF her income goes to just interest… She says if she pays nothing toward interest, the loan would grow to roughly $600,000 by the time she finishes residency Interest rates on student loans are predatory and should be illegal. This is usury

I was taught shame and condemnation from a young age. Told I wasn’t good enough and was a disappointment. You don’t always realize how much that conditioning sticks with you, and how much, even decades later, you still unconsciously believe it. So much so that with every affliction or hard time, I took it as the Lord’s discipline and anger at me for falling short, and I would promise Him I’d do better coming out of it, assuming the affliction would lessen when I showed understanding and contrition. There is genuine discipline of the Lord (Heb. 12:11), but not every hard time is a punishment; Job makes that clear. I was a victim of my own shame for years. God forgave my sins but I hanged them over my head continually. And I finally reached a point of understanding God was asking me to let that shame go, but I was really just shaming myself for my shame. What a vicious circle. Point being, your past is the past, and God has forgiven you. Let it go, move on from it, don’t hang it over your own head, and if you have struggled with shaming yourself for it, don’t shame yourself over the shame. Receive the blessed gift of forgiveness and move forward joyfully in the Lord.

Dianna Russini’s husband has finally broken his silence on the recent rumors, saying: “A lot of people still struggle to accept a strong, independent woman thriving in what’s traditionally been a male-dominated industry. Instead of celebrating her success, they try to tear her down with misinformation and noise. But I see the work she puts in every single day, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. She’s earned everything she has. That’s exactly why we supported leaders like Kamala Harris — because empowering strong women isn’t controversial, it’s necessary.”

This is one of the dumbest proposals I’ve seen from the Ohio legislature, and that’s saying something!! This will do nothing to stop problem or major gamblers as they will only go offshore, use VPNs or other methods to continue to bet. The casual gambler, which is the lions share of the market, will abandon the industry killing revenue to businesses. Not just the gaming business but don’t have any idea how many local media outlets get huge rev of advertising dollars from this industry? Killer for them as well. Invest in treatment and mental health services if you are concerned about problem gambling. Just like prohibition, marijuana etc., banning these things only leads to black market solutions. And this level of regulation is basically banning.

NOW: Ohio Republican lawmakers are introducing two different bills to overhaul the sports gaming/gambling system: - No online bets - Ban on in-game, prop and parlay bets - Limits wagers to $100 - No ads during games - No using credit cards to bet @WEWS @WCPO @OhioCapJournal

Independent journalists are putting government to shame. How is it possible they uncover waste, fraud, and abuse, yet people who get paid to monitor and prevent the welfare rip-offs are clearly failing?

A common response to the fine-tuning argument is to say that of course the universe is finely tuned, because if it wasn't we wouldn't be here to observe it. That's a truism and a tautology, not an explanation. Think of it this way. You're standing before a firing squad of dozens of skilled shooters, all with loaded weapons pointed straight at you, who all fire at you simultaneously. Yet you walk away unscathed. Your response? Well, if I hadn't survived, I wouldn't be here to observe it. Does that explain this extremely improbable outcome? No. It's a statement of the obvious, but you'd be searching for answers. In the same way, the fine-tuning of the universe to allow conscious life cries out for an explanation. The possibilities are that this happened by 1. Chance 2. Necessity 3. Design Option 1 is the firing squad problem. The odds are so overwhelmingly against this "just happening" that proponents have resorted to untestable and bizarre explanations like an infinite multiverse. There is no evidence for Option 2. Nothing in the laws of nature requires the finely-tuned parameters of the universe to be the way they are. Logically, this leaves Option 3 as the most probable explanation. When I was a physics student coming out of my lifelong atheism, I was deeply moved by this argument. It didn't matter what my prejudices were, the logic was so sound that I couldn't see any way around it.

No online sports bets in Ohio is insane. Is it 1986? The result is twofold: 1. people will cross state lines to place sports bets, meaning tax dollars go to states that border Ohio instead of Ohio, or 2. even more people will go to offshores, which also crushes revenue.

No, Christianity does not promote or require socialism. And it is not at odds with capitalism. The idea that socialism is a biblical model requires you to ignore the difference between willing generosity and forced redistribution. When the early church in Acts shared resources, it was voluntary; it wasn't mandated by the state. Peter acknowledged private property rights and so did the ten commandments. Stealing is only wrong if private property ownership is a given. Same with coveting. All virtues require freedom, including charity. Socialism removes the freedom and kills the virtue. If the state takes your wealth and gives it to someone else, you've been taxed. You haven't been "generous" because it had nothing to do with your heart. Capitalism creates wealth — so there's something to share — and respects our individual freedom to share it. The charity that results from the wealth that's created is real charity; it's actually an act of loving one's neighbor. And it isn't just theoretical or idealistic. Free markets paired with Christian values have produced the wealthiest, freest, and most generous societies in history.

So how was J6 going to end in overthrow? Let me explain why J6 alarms your class so much. It’s projection, nothing more. Your side has spent years engineering color revolutions abroad, so J6 resembled the final phase to you... crowds overrunning a key building to unseat a leader. Except that didn't actually happen. Plus this time you weren’t in control, so you responded with overwhelming force, prosecuting participants in DC juries molded by NGOs that emphasize "social justice" over evidence. You cannot describe the actual mechanism through which J6 would have actually resulted in a coup or insurrection, because there was no planning at all involved. Unlike in actual color revolutions. Now let me explain what real-life sedition looks like. Sedition starts years before, with allowing foreign NGOs to flood your country and condition your security forces into deflecting. That is exactly what the Seditious Six were doing. That is exactly what the "No Kings" protests are doing. The Trump administration called it out as a color revolution for a good reason. You won't even blink an eye at the enormous amounts of foreign Communist influence involved in the protests that you so eagerly support. But you will accuse @lecternleader of treason just for posing for a picture with a lectern.
