What was the weirdest reason you heard for voting Brexit?
I’m not talking “foreigners” or “sovereignty” but real mind boggling nonsense.
A family member wanted to avoid writing an essay on impact of EU law on Trade Unionism. They thought brexit would mean it was unnecessary

@chris_cross1498@MaizyDaizyZzzz@MForstater I was in York M&S last week. A couple (male & female 30’s) followed me into the ‘Try On’ cubicles located in the lingerie department. Nobody stopped them and the male just didn’t care. Think I’ll use the men’s cubicles, if I ever go back, see how they like it! 😡
Sick and tired of these cretins who say they don’t believe the M&S changing room images are recent. Here is a vid taken today at Shoreham M&S that proves they have a dedicated Men’s fitting room but no dedicated Women’s one (proof of date at end of vid). @MForstater@SexMattersOrg
@allotmentsu@chris_cross1498@MForstater That doesn't really work because the situation is asymettric. It might be mildly irritating for the men, but we're not going to worrying that you're perverts
@EssexPR@RachelReevesMP Charities bosses earn £90K/yrAverage base pay plus
£10K/yrAverage bonus
Some charity bosses earn over £200k + £65k bonuses
So between the bosses and RachelThieves you are lucky if 6p out of every pound you donate actually goes to those who Need It Most
@ArchRose90 “Although we was wrong to doubt it, I’m going to still try and claim a kind of supposed moral victory in spite of all evidence to the contrary”
Although I’m pleased that the Manchester Airport thugs have now been charged, I still believe that if the races were reversed, it wouldn’t have taken five months for the CPS to charge them.
@DrEvaD@RevRichardColes@TIME They do it for the winners of presidential elections all the time. Hardly “they don’t want to do it” as they also did it in 2016
“The guardians” or “you” weren’t the most headlines.
@mvbooks2@daveatherton@CranberryHippo Not necessarily, now they have been charged they could disappear because they now know the law is to be applied to them after all
🚨Breaking News🚨
The CPS is charging two men involved in an assault of police officers at Manchester Airport.
Mohammed Amaaz, 20, & Muhammed Amaad, 25, will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on 16 January, 2025.
No police officers are currently charged.
Please explain how this is allowed that Keir Starmer is allowed to cancel local elections, and we are not allowed to call another election to get rid of him,

@RobertReverie@Positively4thS The diary entries could easily be a sense of guilt and shame that the babies died on her watch, rather than a direct admission of guilt
Every tick of the clock brings us a moment nearer to the moment the world realises Lucy Letby was lynched by a dangerously inept legal system and a terrifyingly gullible public.
Release this poor woman, for God's sake!
He did, can’t we all agree that was a stupid thing to do?
But its a myth that DeValera expressing condolences is related him or Ireland being antisemitic
It’s well established he made a bad decision based on his understanding of the rules of neutrality - nothing to do with supporting Hitler or Germany, because he demonstrably led a nation who supported the Allies. He also had issue with the American rep, a very strange character
The same DeValera ‘included a specific recognition of the Jewish faith in the article on religion, an extremely striking decision at a time when antisemitism was rampant in Europe.
In recognition of that act, in the 1960s the Éamon de Valera Forest was planted in Israel, near Nazareth.
The then-Israeli prime minister, Levi Eshkol, said the forest was a "fitting expression of the traditional friendship between the Irish and Jewish peoples, two nations that have so much in common of history and fulfilment."
He wasn’t antisemitic, Ireland wasn’t and isn’t, and this isn’t about Ireland
Casual anti-Irish racism in Britain still afflicts even their most respected historians
Simon Montefiore today states
‘(Irish Taoiseach) Eamon DeValera signed a book of condolences for Hitler’ -
But he didn’t, because no such book existed
If Simon could be bothered to actually research the topic he’d identify that’s an embellishment of a common anti-Irish trope
One used to imply Ireland supported Germany when in reality it was demonstrably pro-Allies
The same lie was casually repeated in the countries most popular history podcast
Which leads to the question - why do Britain’s best not put the same level of effort and scrutiny into fairly relaying Irish history as they do for other nations?
The nation of ‘paddys & micks’ doesn’t seem to deserve the same respect as other nations
@Number10cat@Nigel_Farage Low . Even for such a short beast . 21 days in jail for such an assault is normal . Attacking MPs should be beyond the Pale .
