@MatSavant @DisposablEnsign @MrPatMineo Bullshit! The situation may not meet your definition of “honorable”, who cares! The kid received an almost immediate lesson in why being a douche isn't a great idea.
English

@BumLumpy @DisposablEnsign @MrPatMineo Where I grew up, if you wanted to fight then you fought. But you didn’t hit a guy who wasn’t looking.
He was disrespected. He was rightfully looking for revenge. But there’s an honorable way to respond and a dishonorable way in my opinion.
English

@DisposablEnsign @MatSavant @MrPatMineo Making excuses for people who fully deserve the consequences they received explains why we are quickly becoming a nation filled with whiney pussies! There was bad behavior that was immediately corrected. I guarantee he’ll think twice about doing something similar in the future.
English

@MatSavant @MrPatMineo This is the correct comment - no one deserves to get knocked out by a sucker punch at this age, no matter how much he deserved it.

@Lrazzo1 @Heavenly_Race_ If I’m understanding you it sounds like their “topic IQ” were on similar levels. If they’re discussing the best way to bag a big whitetail everything goes well but if they’re discussing the future collapse of Social Security things might not go as well.
English

@Heavenly_Race_ I am sure this is mostly true, but I have known several brilliant people who had classic interests like hunting and fishing that could talk for hours with people who were definitely more than 20 points lower in IQ. It is a rare gift which made it notable.
English

Once you hit about a 20-point IQ gap, communication starts to completely break down.
It's not that the lower IQ person is "stupid" (although that can often be the case) or the higher one is arrogant, it's that you're literally operating on different systems.
A 20 point difference (roughly 1.3 standard deviations) means:
Vocabulary and abstraction levels diverge sharply. What feels like crystal clear logic to one side sounds like vague, pretentious word salad to the other. Jokes land flat. Metaphors get taken literally. Complex cause and effect chains get simplified into "this good, that bad."
Different time horizons and pattern recognition. One person thinks in months or years and sees systems, the other is locked into days or immediate rewards. Trying to explain second order effects feels like speaking another language.
Also, processing speed and working memory gaps. The higher IQ person is already three steps ahead, getting impatient. The lower IQ person feels talked down to or overwhelmed.
Both walk away frustrated.
Both have wasted each others time.

@TracesofTexas The “fat little girlfriends” press conference was a great one, along with the explanation he had to give about it. The epic butt chewing in the locker room after getting beat by Baylor is also at the top of my list.

The Texas Quote of the Day is a collection of quotes by the great Mike Leach, former football coach at Texas Tech:
"Golf’s pretty much for people that don’t swear effectively enough or need practice at it, and so there are people that need golf. I don’t think I do."

"I do have a Viking axe by the bed if I need to whack someone. My wife bought me a Viking axe. The axe side curls down so you can grab the adversary around the neck and you can use it to climb walls, as a grappling hook.”

“I ought to have Mike's Pirate School. The freshmen, all they get is the bandanna. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work pirate maneuvers and stuff like that.”
*****
"Growing up in Wyoming, I can tell you that If a pinecone war breaks out you have no choice but to engage in it. There are no neutral countries in pinecone wars."
*****
"If you're calling 50% run plays and 50% pass plays, you're 50% stupid."
*****
"First advice — elope! Just eliminate all the family input aggravation, change of constant, change of course that exists with planning weddings, and the anxiety and the pressure that almost drives people to divorce before they even start."

"They’d start talking about evolution, like if you don’t use a certain part of your body, as time evolves over century upon century, in natural selection, that part of the body disappears and even that animal might disappear.
I’m genuinely fearful that, on our team, if me and the other coaches don’t get them right, that about a generation from now our receivers' kids and their grandkids won’t have hands. Because from a lack of use those hands just disappear. Maybe they’ll be like this (Leach does raptor hands at the podium), like those dinosaur hands like this. And you’ve got like a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is clearly really good at eating things, with big ol’ jaws and all that stuff, certainly athletic and can run. But those hands are like this (gestures again).”

"First of all, what kind of mystical powers does a sun devil have? We've got to consider that. I'm going to say the wildcat's out. The Trojan, does he have a horse or is he on foot? Does he have a bow and arrow or just his sword? The bruin is definitely formidable. Another bear up there at Cal. The tree... I imagine that tree is going to get chopped down unless we're going to go with the bird and then someone might get pecked or something, I don't know. And then the duck. The duck might lose interest and fly away and get out of there which may be good advice under the circumstances. The husky, no chance. The beaver? Well, we'll see how long that beaver can hold his breath. The Ute? Again, we're back to: is he on horseback? Does he have a bow and arrow? Did he trade for a rifle? I mean, because if that Ute's got a rifle, there's some definite problems. You know, you'd have to get one of those Harry Potter activists to read up on how you kill a sun devil because there's a lot of outside stuff there. Just as far as a beast alone, a buffalo is going to be pretty hard to tangle with. I mean, a buffalo is utterly outstanding. Butch (the Washington State mascot) is going to have to be clear minded and crafty. I mean, Butch will find a way, there's no question. The cougar will find a way ---- clear minded and crafty, a combination of stay out of harm's way and attack when you get your chances or your openings." ---- Mike Leach, exploring who would win in a Pac-12 mascot brawl

I am deeply grateful for the trust President Trump placed in me and for the opportunity to lead @ODNIgov for the last year and a half.
Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026. My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.

Ken Paxton is without a doubt, one of the worst political candidates Texas can offer. He used taxpayer funds to pay for his mistress and was divorced on biblical grounds. He should be in jail right now not running for Senator. So it’s him or the Seminarian.
It’s that easy.
Brandon Gill@realBrandonGill
The primary is over. Ken Paxton is our nominee. Time for all Texas Republicans to unite around him unless you want this weirdo to be your next Senator.

@thestustustudio It sounds like the commies accidentally got one right. I haven’t seen a legitimate claim that shot spotter actually works from anyone other than the makers of the product.
Flock cameras are even worse. The illusion of safety shouldn’t be used to justify a surveillance state.
English

🚨 After the Bullets, Cambridge Turns Off the Alarm
Last night, Cambridge City Council voted to end its use of ShotSpotter, even after Police Commissioner Pauline Wells practically begged them not to shut it off.
This comes after one of the city’s most brazen recent shootings, when a gunman fired 60 rounds on Memorial Drive.
Wells told councilors that Cambridge police had taken three additional illegally possessed loaded firearms off the streets in just two weeks, including weapons with large-capacity magazines. In each case, she said the people carrying them were convicted felons who never should have had guns in their hands.
She also warned that there have been “at least 11 times” when ShotSpotter detected gunfire in Cambridge and not a single 911 call came in.
Despite Wells’s warning that “lucky is not a strategy,” the council voted to shut it off anyway.

@historicfirearm 1. Gather troops for training
2. Go to trap and skeet field
3. Shoot until scores are 80%+
4. Issue tungsten ammo
The American taxpayer just saved millions and possibly billions.
Take a look at aircraft gunnery school from WW II. What’s old is new again.

@Mrgunsngear If I understand the rationale here, he did not sell the explosives, he made money on the income from his videos that on how to make the explosives. That was his business model, and thus "engaged in the business". This will be used against video makers of gun fabrication at home.

National treasure, Jordan Derrick (better known as Dugan Ashley), has been arrested by the feds. Charging language below ⬇️
His videos, that are cited in the language below, have been on the internet for years and are still up on his social media as of this post...
"KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United States Attorney R. Matthew Price today announced the filing of a criminal complaint against Jordan Derrick, 40. The complaint charges Derrick with one count of engaging in the business of manufacturing explosive materials without a license, one count of unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device, and one count of distributing information relating to manufacturing explosives, in violation of U.S. law.
The complaint alleges that beginning no later than Sept. 18, 2023, Derrick began using several social media sites to distribute videos of himself making various explosive materials, to include detonators, nickel aminoguanidine perchlorate (NAP), ethylene glycol dinitrate (EGDN), hexamethylene triperoxide diamine (HMTD), hexamine dinitrate (HDN), Research Department eXplosive (RDX), silver acetylide double salt (SADS), trinitroxylene (TNX or R-salt), trinitrotoluene (TNT), pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), aminoguanidine bicarbonate, and ammonium nitrate/nitromethane (ANNM). In his videos, Derrick provided step-by-step instructions on how to make these explosives.
According to the complaint, Derrick’s videos were downloaded from his publicly available video sharing accounts and used by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the individual who conducted an attack in New Orleans on Jan. 1, 2025. Jabbar had created IEDs consistent with Derrick’s instructional videos. The devices placed by Jabbar did not detonate and were subsequently rendered safe by law enforcement. Also, according to the complaint, on May 4, 2026, an explosion occurred at a private residence in Odessa, Mo. Investigators who searched the private residence after the explosion, found two components suspected of being used in explosive devices. The occupant of the residence told investigators that he manufactured explosive devices after watching online tutorials on a social media account that is believed to be utilized by Derrick to distribute information relating to the manufacture of explosives. An investigation of the Odessa explosion is ongoing.
If convicted of engaging in the business of manufacturing explosive materials without a license, Derrick would be subject to a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison. If convicted of unlawfully possessing an unregistered destructive device, Derrick would be subject to a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison. If convicted of distributing information relating to the manufacture of explosives, Derrick would be subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison. In the federal judicial system, there is not the possibility of parole. These maximum statutory sentences are prescribed by Congress, and they are provided here for informational purposes. Any sentence would be determined by the court based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trey Alford and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Chlarson with valuable assistance provided by Trial Attorney Michael Dittoe of the National Security Division. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The allegations contained in the complaint are accusations, not evidence of guilt, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."

TEXAS AG RACE: Ken Paxton is going to vote for Mayes Middleton and has made it clear he could not see Chip Roy stepping in as AG - he should know - Chip Roy was Ken Paxton's deputy & got fired for betraying him. Then went on TV to call for Paxton's impeachment & conviction. Mayes Middleton voted to acquit Paxton in the corrupt trial against him. Roy called to remove Republican House members who backed Trump & said Trump should be impeached. Liz Cheney endorsed Roy. The choice for Texas AG could not be more obvious.
