@palindromeus @jkimballcook @GuyInco15542744 I can tell the term 'forced birth' really bothers you, but my religious beliefs and what I think is right politically are not the same thing here. I dont think it's right to force people into a life-altering decision w/serious medical risks bc of our religious beliefs.

@palindromeus @jkimballcook @GuyInco15542744 You and I can find reasons we think it's good the birth was forced to occur, but let's not pretend it wasn't forced on that person. If the only reason they carried a birth to term is bc the law prevented them from getting an early term abortion, they were forced to keep the baby.

@ButtrmlkPncakes @LDS_Dems There isn't enough money between all the "well funded" gun rights organizations put together to go after every single one of these laws. There are literally thousands of them spread across numerous states and cities. All they can do is challenge the most egregious ones.

The Journal of the American Medical Association has shown that the birth rate rose 3-4% in states with bans. That directly contradicts the absurd idea that expanding abortion access reduces abortions.

FWIW I fall into the seemingly small camp that thinks that birthright citizenship is probably required by the text of the 14A while also being a horrible policy if it extends to the children of illegal immigrants or people on vacation.

@ButtrmlkPncakes @LDS_Dems It isn't a question of whether or not SCOTUS will allow it, it's a question of whether or not SCOTUS will ever even hear the case. The gun controllers know they can't hear them all, so they pass thousands of laws knowing that some will never get back to SCOTUS to be overturned.

I think the best way to reduce abortions is better comprehensive sex ed, access to contraceptives, etc which are generally lib policies, so I would vote D to get fewer abortions.

@KingIronfoot @TaylorPetrey Slavery followed by generations of apartheid up until our grandparents era is bad if you ask me but maybe you disagree on that. Im sure it was conservatives pushing for radically altering the status quo to end these things though, that makes logical sense to me.

@ButtrmlkPncakes @jkimballcook Ok, so a foreign diplomat enters legally and has a baby in the US, they are not a citizen. If a foreign diplomat enters ILLEGALLY and has a baby, they are a citizen… and can emotionally blackmail our nation to make sure their parents can stay. Ok.

@Glockist19 @LDS_Dems The Supreme Court has been pretty clear that some regulations are allowed and the laws that go too far for the conservative justices to stomach get overturned. If "passing regulations and seeing if the current scotus will allow it" counts as ignoring the 2a then I guess ur right.

this is not true regardless of how the decision comes down, the fourteenth amendment doesn't prohibit Congress from making laws to prevent or punish birth tourism

You misunderstand the stakes. If the Supreme Court rules against the administration, Congress CANNOT prohibit birth tourism, because the children produced by birth tourism would be constitutionally entitled to citizenship. That's how insane the left's interpretation is.
