ICE vs. protesters in front of Portland City Hall. emotions were running high. This unfolded during testimony for the Homeless and Housing Committee. I strongly believe in the First Amendment and the right to assemble peaceably. What happened here was not peaceful. Meanwhile, it feels like less public energy is being directed toward our homeless and addiction crisis — an issue that continues to impact the city every day. One striking moment: a known anti-police activist was seen screaming for help from the very officers he regularly condemns.

The city of San Leandro is about to pass a rent control capping rent increases at 65% of CPI (~2%/yr). 85% of that housing stock in that city is over 50 years old. Who is going to fix the galvanized plumbing? Who is going to update the aluminum wiring? Who is going to make sure that siding is not failing and allowing moisture into the units? With expenses growing faster than rents, all available landlord $ will go to paying increased expenses and the greater community will be worse off for it. The housing stock of that city is going to wither away.

Bowles now enters his fourth year as the Bucs’ head coach after leading the team to three consecutive NFC South titles from 2022-24. Licht is currently the NFL’s fifth-longest tenured traditional general manager, entering his 12th season as the team’s GM.
