What’s Bo Nix’s shelf life with a play caller? He left Auburn after 3 years and transferred to Oregon for 2 years. He got drafted by the Broncos and played for 2 years with Sean Payton as the play caller. Next season Davis Webb will be the Broncos offensive play caller. Maybe it’s just typical football player and coach turnover, but maybe it’s Bo. I do know that when the quarterback/play caller connection is tight it makes a huge difference in team success. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are a great example. I was the Broncos defensive captain with Joe Collier and then Wade Phillips calling the defensive plays. In both cases, over time, I developed an understanding of what they wanted in specific situations. With both defensive coordinators there were offensive looks where I’d adjust the defense based on that knowledge. With Wade, there would be times he was still looking at his play sheet as the other team broke the huddle. I knew what he was going to call, so I’d just call it with no sideline confirmation. That unspoken mental connection takes more than 2 years. From all reports Davis Webb is the next young gun in offensive play calling. I hope he and Bo have the chance to work together for many years and develop that telepathy that only time together allows. If so, it will take Nix’s play to the next level. Go Broncos! So allow me to explain the economics of California gas for you window licking Magadoltians out there, and Tim - whom I suspect already knows this, but as a member of Grifter, Inc. has to feign ignorance: Gas stations are built on land. Land costs money to use. While true that you can likely get a gallon of 85 octane at your local Quik-Pik for $2.85, a big part of that is the fact that you can buy 12 acres of land near where you live for $19 and 2 hours with your toothless cousin Bobbi Sue Ann, with no property taxes because your land is actually worth negative money. Because nobody wants to live there. Which means the cost to operate that gas station are way lower than 3 blocks from the beach in California, where land costs a million-5 for a patch of dirt slightly bigger than an SUV. California takes just shy of 71 cents a gallon in taxes - which IS, for the record, the highest in the nation. However, it's only 35 cents more than West Virginia, which has roads so bad your car's suspension will only last half as a long. Which means that, all things equal on things like land and labor costs (another difference - in California, employees are paid in dollars instead of meth), California's gas would only be $3.20. The other dollar and change is a small price to pay so you don't have to live in West Virginia and fuck your 1st cousin because you got into a quarrel with your sister, and your mom isn't an option ever since she found her dentures again.
