For years, I have said “awww, I don’t need one of those fucking Blackstone griddles”, and put off buying one. I’m happy to inform y’all that I bought a small one and I hope to be as insufferable as the barbecue bros about it.

The original tag on these shows around $3.86, but Goodwill is selling them for $6.24. That’s nearly double for something that was donated. Thrift stores were always meant to offer lower prices and help people save money. When it starts looking like this, it feels like that whole idea is starting to get lost

@FinalCutTile There was a Chinese restaurant near me that was a family owned place. Their young kids were always there and the restaurant was their life. I ordered like $120 worth of food near Thanksgiving and when I walked in she was practically in tears, she was so happy for the order.

I have been going to this Thai food place for 12 years now. It is good, but thats not why I go there. The reason I go there religiously is because the little Thai lady owner. She is an absolute treat, always happy, always smiling, always wants to know how my jobs are going and wants to see pictures. She gives me a Christmas card every year with 1 free meal, she has ordered special peppers to make my extra hot fried rice even hotter 😂 Just being around her for the 3 mins I'm in there each week is like a reset, it changes my entire day because her happiness is so contagious. Even tho I tip well, I still get the better end of the bargain, because I really cant put a price on how much her aura heals my soul when I am in need of it. 🫶

The materials alone in this bathroom were over $15,000. When it’s completely finished, should I share the final numbers?? Just to be forewarned, it’s going to be extremely high.

A friend's son deploys soon. His family will hold their breath until he returns, and won't fully exhale until he leaves service. My Mom did this for over 15 years. We get the awards and are thanked for our service, but the families often pay the greatest price. Remember them.

Can someone understand why some people think it’s acceptable to talk on their phone on speaker mode while sitting in a restaurant? What makes them think we want to listen to their conversation? What am I missing?

@Clones007 100% I've said this to numerous people on the subject. TJ needed some on the job training before taking over the ISU program. I'd bet even he would say, it worked out perfectly.

The fact that people don’t see the details and context of the decision making of Pollard telling Otz to go elsewhere is sad… I guarantee if we hired Otz when everyone wished it would have gone terribly, you can’t just give a young assistant that much of a responsibility at ISU… Duke, UNC, Florida, KU, sure.. but Pollard did it because he knew Otz wasn’t ready to coach yet. And look how it turned out, he was hired when we needed him most, he had years of HC experience under his belt, and now is on pace to be the best HC in ISU basketball history. Stop bitching about Pollards decisions when you can’t see the context behind them.

@luusssso We drove the country every summer in one of these. The TV rarely got used because the stations would fade out too quickly. The only time we had seat belts on was if dad got pulled over speeding.

@Top100Rick I could be mistaken, but I always understood it as he changed his swing because the old one put too much strain on his back and he was preemptively trying to avoid future issues.

Its possible that somehow the 97 Masters isn’t appreciated enough. Tiger Woods used a steel shafted driver and a balata golf ball and yet overpowered Augusta and the field. He hit short irons into the par 4’s. Mid irons into the par 5’s. He went driver-8 iron into the 550 yard 2nd hole. He wins by 12. He literally played a different game from the entire field. All while swinging smooth and naturally. He would then change his swing and win the Grand Slam. And yet, somehow one can wonder how his career goes if he never drastically changes this swing. Would love to know the results of that alternate timeline.

Before Uber arrived, taxi commissions were textbook regulatory capture in action. In New York, medallion prices hit $1.3 million in 2013 — for a piece of metal that gave you permission to drive people around. The Taxi & Limousine Commission wasn't regulating taxis, it was running a cartel that artificially restricted supply to enrich medallion owners. And these weren't mom-and-pop drivers getting rich. Most medallions were owned by fleet companies and investors who leased them back to drivers for $100+ per day. The drivers — often immigrants working 12-hour shifts — barely scraped by while the medallion holders collected economic rents backed by government force. The whole system was built on the fiction that customers needed "protection" from competition. But what customers actually got was expensive rides, surly service, and cabs that mysteriously broke down when you wanted to go to certain neighborhoods. The real protection was for medallion values, not consumers. When Uber bypassed this racket entirely, the taxi industry screamed about "unfair competition" and "safety." The same regulators who had ignored decades of poor service suddenly discovered concerns about consumer welfare. Amazing how quickly regulatory priorities shift when the regulated industry's profits are threatened.

The people who "like to drive" (like myself) totally agree with what you are saying here! I pick a speed. And by God if you start deviating under that speed I have picked more than two or three times I WILL pass you, no matter how you try to prevent it. I like to drive means I don't mind a nice steady pace for 8-10 hours a day (sometimes more).

After a ten hour drive, I’m starting to suspect that a certain fraction of those who say they “like to drive” actually just like driving other motorists crazy with hostile behavior. Little things like speeding up slightly to prevent a safe and clean pass on the interstate that could have occurred without consequence if they had kept driving as they had been.
