@dlepeska @berkesen @SinanCiddi Exactly. Personal grievances should never come at the expense of intellectual honesty. Criticism of Erdoğan is one thing. Yet, slipping into blanket Turkey-bashing is another. A serious analyst should know the difference. Sadly, @SinanCiddi fails to make that distinction.

FDD has well-documented ties to Israel and has actively lobbied in Washington for policies aimed at isolating Turkey. But even if one sets aside FDD’s organic ties to Israel, this article is as reckless and irresponsible as it is inaccurate. It is inaccurate because it ignores Turkey’s military contributions to NATO and its support for Ukraine during the recent war. No researcher should omit these points when writing on this topic. It is reckless because, at a moment when Iran has been attacked by the US and Israel without clear justification or provocation, drawing a false equivalence between Iran and Turkey risks normalizing the idea of similar action against Turkey. This is factually, politically, and morally wrong. The authors should know better, especially at such a volatile time.

Opinion: Continuing to label Turkey as a reliable NATO ally is dangerous, as Ankara’s ambitions erode the very alliance structures that have long sustained Western security. jpost.com/opinion/articl…

Distortion? I have read your book. In it, you make claims—such as Hitler being influenced by Ottoman policies regarding the Armenian deportations through former German Vice Consul Max Erwin von Scheubner-Richter in Erzurum—that you fail to substantiate with concrete evidence or even proper citations. Hitler met Richter in October 1920. However, the Gemlich letter, in which Hitler explicitly states that Jews must be "totally removed" (Entfernung), dates back to September 1919. Furthermore, your thesis conveniently ignores the fact that—long before the Committee of Union and Progress, let alone Mustafa Kemal Atatürk or the Republic of Turkey—imperial Germany carried out genocide in Namibia between 1904 and 1908, exterminating approximately 80% of the Herero and 50% of the Nama. Naturally, addressing such matters would leave your absurd thesis without a leg to stand on. By the way, denouncing @dilekzaptcioglu to her publishers following her non-insulting criticism is a testament to your lack of professional integrity and shows the rather pitiful state you are in. Instead of these ridiculous attempts to deflect historical responsibility and whitewash your own history through Turks, you might consider more honorable ways to seek academic credibility.

Okay, look, I don’t fully agree with the framing of this post. Why? 🔸️First, calling it a “threat” is simply wrong. Erdoğan issued a warning about the consequences of escalating the conflict by bringing in additional actors. That’s standard geopolitical language, not a threat. 🔸️Second, the claim that Türkiye is “taking Iran’s side” is a clear distortion. Türkiye is maintaining a neutral position, while making it clear it will defend its own borders and national security. Those are not the same thing. 🔸️Third, saying “Kurdish groups” is not just vague, it’s irresponsible. The issue concerns specific organizations designated as terrorist, not an entire ethnic group... Blurring that distinction is either careless or deliberately misleading 💁‍♀️ This kind of framing oversimplifies a complex situation and pushes a false narrative... but that's just my opinion 🙃
