Congress MUST act to provide additional resources to CBP through supplemental funding. Without additional resources, the safety and well-being of the migrant population in CBP custody, comprised mostly of families & unaccompanied children, are at substantial risk. We need action!

An #AMO P-3 crew recently spotted a low profile vessel carrying 4,134lbs of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific. The vessel was sunk and 3 people were detained. The men and women of AMO work hard to prevent dangerous drugs from ever reaching our shores.

Confronting the humanitarian and security emergency at our border requires a "whole-of-government" approach, which would not possible without the support of @NationalGuardMS and Mississippi Governor @PhilBryantMS. @DHSgov and @CBP are grateful for your partnership.

Very proud of the @CBP officers involved in this historic seizure of more than $1B worth of cocaine. Authorities have made 2 arrests and continue to process the seized cocaine. The investigation is ongoing.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all who landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago this month. It was an honor for @CBP officers to welcome home Mr. Willard LaCounte, a D-Day veteran who was inducted into the French Legion of Honor for his service in WWII. #DDay75thAnniversary

A Border Patrol EMT treated a small child on the border this week suffering from insect bites that covered his body. Over 1,300 Border Patrol agents are trained EMTs—using their skills to save lives and treat injuries of people they encounter.

BORSTAR agents rescued 8 children and 10 adults from the strong current of the Rio Grande last week. Smugglers do not care how dangerous it is. They guide migrants directly into these life-threatening situations. I’m proud of the agents involved in this rescue.

A positive update to this sad situation from yesterday—the missing mom & daughter were located by Border Patrol when they crossed the border again into the US & surrendered to agents. They were taken to a hospital for treatment of dehydration. I’m thankful they were found okay.

In Feb., CBP, @dhsscitech, @ONDCP & @USPISpressroom launched the Opioid Detection Challenge. On Tuesday, 8 finalists were announced. I’m excited to see how these technologies will help our frontline personnel safely detect dangerous opioids. Find out more: bit.ly/2WFqFIw

Border Patrol agents have rescued more than 3,000 people this fiscal year, including 514 people in water-related rescues. There has been a dramatic increase in water rescues as many underestimate the water depth & speed of the current. This is a crisis. We need Congress to act.

I’m asking Congress to act as soon as possible on the supplemental request. Our frontline officers and agents need resources to address this emergency and to continue caring for the families and children in custody. Now, more than ever, we need more than words—we need action!

I just returned from the SW border where I had the privilege of engaging with the men and women of CBP and our partners at @DHSgov & @DeptofDefense. I am grateful to them all, especially the Border Patrol, for their dedication during this unprecedented crisis.

I’m pleased to announce 79% of ACE users reported they were satisfied in the 2018 ACE User Satisfaction Survey. I’m proud of the work @CBPTradeGov & the Office of Information & Technology have done to modernize ACE. We'll continue to work with stakeholders on future deployments.

The current situation is unsustainable for @CBP operations. Our officers and agents need additional resources and authorities to confront this crisis and to ensure that our humanitarian obligations to the families and children encountered at the border are fulfilled.

On our frontline every day, the men and women behind the badges are professional & compassionate. They are doing everything they possibly can to achieve CBP’s mission—enforcing the law while, at the same time, remaining mindful of the humanitarian needs of those in our custody.

These BORSTAR agents saw two men struggling to stay afloat and immediately acted—jumping into the river to pull them to safety. I am very proud of the men and women of the Border Patrol, who every day, put themselves in harm’s way to save lives.

.@CBP officers are prepared to welcome millions of travelers from all over the world this summer. Travel to the US has grown year by year. We continue to expand programs & leverage technology to provide convenience to travelers while maintaining the highest standards of security.
