We are closely monitoring reports of the attack at a synagogue in Michigan. Out of an abundance of caution, @PhillyPolice is increasing patrols around houses of worship and other sensitive locations. As always, remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to 911.

Our thoughts remain with the family, friends, and colleagues of @PAStatePolice Corporal Timothy O’Connor, who was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Chester County. We stand with our PSP partners as they mourn this heartbreaking loss.

PPD is monitoring developments overseas along with federal, state, and regional partners. While there are no credible threats to Philadelphia, we’ve increased patrols at religious & cultural sites out of caution. Report suspicious activity to 911 or 215-686-TIPS.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: We’re seeing calls/texts claiming you owe unpaid tickets or tolls and demanding immediate payment. They may threaten arrest or license suspension. It’s a scam. Do NOT send money or share info. Hang up + verify with the official agency. Call 911 if threatened.

This storm produced some heavy snow. Snow and high winds can cause tree limbs and power lines to fall. Continue to keep your devices charged! Also, know who to call for a downed tree or power line and how to report power outages: bit.ly/4pCqFCP

The Philadelphia Streets Department continues their snow plow operation with more than 1000 personnel operating 800 trucks and clearing equipment. Even when the snow stops, blowing snow may reduce visibility. If you must travel, please slow down and be aware of snow removal work.

The major Winter Storm descending on Philadelphia is predicted to bring anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow to our City, along with high winds, starting later today and extending into Monday. Based on the steadily worsening forecast from the National Weather Service, I am declaring a Disaster Emergency under the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter and Pennsylvania law, effective immediately.  I have communicated this step to @GovernorShapiro. This declaration of a Disaster Emergency will allow the @PhiladelphiaGov to more effectively fight this large and dangerous storm as it rolls in, including our ability to execute emergency management measures to reduce the severity of this disaster and to protect the health, safety, property, and welfare of Philadelphia residents.  It is absolutely vital that the City be able to mobilize and utilize all available resources to address this extreme snow emergency.  We will continue to communicate closely with you, the People of Philadelphia, along with all of our appropriate public officials.

Great to see @PPD19Dist and our partners bringing people together in a meaningful way. Events like this matter - not just during Black History Month, but year-round. Building relationships and showing up consistently is how trust is strengthened across all of our neighborhoods!
