@Independent @JonathanPieNews You never convince anyone of your argument by telling them they're wrong, shutting them down or ignoring them.

@jk_rowling Love a hoodie. But I’m not sure why. I never raise the hood. They’re usually just so thick and warm.

I fear this might be my most controversial take ever, but I agreed to put it to a vote so here we are. Hoodies should only be worn by men young enough not to look silly carrying a skateboard.

When I was a kid, we had Evacuation Day off because I attended school in Suffolk County. Now that my children are all in school, it’s so weird that they have to go to school on St. Patrick’s Day. For those unfamiliar with the details, Evacuation Day and St. Patrick’s Day are observed on the same day in only Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

@naomirwolf My niece & I want to take a cooking class. I told her I want basics like: what’s the proper way to stir? How do I use a knife? Seems ridiculous, but these are things I saw but was never taught. And I know I’m not doing it ideally! That said, the internet is a new cook’s friend.

You may be right but the intimidation out there esp aming young people re cooking, is real. And if you have never seen someone sift flour, divide a yolk from an egg white, use a whisk etc it can be baffling for them to start. Home Ec or just having moms and grandmas in the kitchen, helped older generations so so much.
𝔻𝕣𝕪𝔽𝔸𝕊𝕋_𝔼𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪👊🏿@CharismaKings

@naomirwolf @Waltika @HHSGov @X There's a big difference between forgetting how to cook and being convinced not to. How difficult is it to boil eggs, saute vegetables or bake chicken? People haven't forgotten how to cook, they have lost the desire or need to.

I’ve tried cottage cheese before and was not impressed. This Daisy brand is notably better. It’s like bits of mozzarella in a very light and wet sour cream. But what do you eat it with?

@miles_commodore I’m in my 50s and Facebook friends with my high school guidance counselor. On her birthday, I simply wished her a Happy Birthday, telling her that all these years later I still can’t call her ‘Alison’. 😂

@HistoryBoomer Trace evolution back as far as possible? Is that the big bang? Anyways trace it back to wherever we say, ‘and where did that come from?’ that we have no answer to. That’s what I would consider ‘god’s guidance’. If all comes from something, where’d the first something come from?

It's the 34% who say God guided the process that seem the strangest to me. Evolution, got it (and believe it). God created everything, got it. But God watched the Earth for 5 billion years waiting for us to show up? Also, what's the point of Pluto? Or all the stars without life?

@NJBeisner In MA they register you to vote when you get your license. Which is brilliant because you need your documentation for that initial license. So my kids were registered to vote 2 years before they could actually vote and were all good when they stepped into the booth 2 years later.

“I am part of the 40% of Americans that still have not gotten a real ID because I simply have not found the time to wait in line at the DMV for hours on end. And I’m somebody who’s self-employed so imagine if you are a worker who’s hourly and does not have the time or capacity to give a whole day worth of pay to stand in line at the DMV.” This is so outrageous. Unlike this this walking cliché blonde bimbo, I am not blessed enough to be a full-time self-employed content creator, yet somehow I managed to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT and SUBMIT MY DOCUMENTS beforehand online, and I was in and out of the DMV in less than 30. And that’s in Los Angeles, where the DMVs are all hellacious. Every single argument I’ve heard on this is pure fiction and emotionalism. Nobody likes going to the DMV or gathering necessary documents and dealing with bureaucracy, but you can do it. It’s not literally or physically inaccessible to us poors. This argument stems from pure laziness, and it’s a slap in the face to those of us who are actually paycheck to paycheck and are still functioning capable adults.

BREAKING: A French court rules that the 67-year-old Senegalese migrant Ousmane Diallo can’t be held criminally responsible for killing 18-year-old Théo. Ousmane became furious in a mobile phone shop after having been told he would have to pay €93 for calls made to Senegal. He stabbed Théo in the chest on one of his first days on the job. The court ruled that Ousmane is mentally ill and will be sent to a psychiatric hospital instead until he recovers.

@_Tom_Tee_ @Forty1_0 When my son was about 2 they needed to check his sight. They showed a tree, a car, a star. He got them all. Until they flashed a picture of a rotary phone. The doc looked concerned when he didn’t respond and I said, ‘he has no IDEA what that is!’ 😂

WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON??? Is this guy in this picture OK with you?? Someone’s story: “To my neighbor who thinks mowing the lawn SHIRTLESS in a family neighborhood is totally normal. I've already contacted the authorities. This isn't a beach. It's not a gym. It's a residential street where families live and kids are outside all the time. I don't care if it's 90 degrees out - PUT A SHIRT ON! Basic standards and common courtesy still exist for a reason. Broad daylight. Front yard. Acting like this is completely acceptable behavior” Then he asks: “Am I crazy for thinking there should be at least some level of decency in shared spaces, or are we just throwing social norms out the window now? your thoughts?”

@CharlesK67 @InternetReels If they don’t see, why don’t you tell them? I’m Gen X and yes, we were taught to push through. So it’s quite possible not to see the signs. It doesn’t mean we don’t want to help in some way if made aware. I tell my kids ‘tell me & how can I help?’ Advice? Listen? Intervention?
