I am about as big a capitalist as can be, but even I come to question the system when someone can become a trillionaire, when so many are left hungry and with terrible access to healthcare. In no way do I want to confiscate his wealth, but the tax system should be designed in such a way that he has to actually pay taxes. Right now, he has no need to ever sell stock and therefore he just borrows against it to fund any purchase he wants to make backed by his vast stock holdings. Buy, borrow, die. That means there is no taxable event and the government never gets tax revenue. That is a poorly designed system. Smart for billionaires to do it this way, but bad for the country. I disagree vehemently with Bernie and Warren, but something needs to change. Our country should encourage entrepreneurship and building the biggest, best companies here in America, but the government is entitled to some level of tax revenue. The step-up in basis at death compounds this further. Heirs inherit appreciated assets, the embedded gains disappear, and a fortune passes across generations with minimal tax friction. There is an estate tax, but given access to the best lawyers and accountants, that too is often able to be bypassed with the array of loopholes available. That isn't capitalism rewarding achievement, it's the tax code conferring a dynastic advantage.

It’s disappointing that right as the biggest ipo happens in American history, rather than celebrate the achievement, we have to deal with a bunch of socialist politicians scheming about how they can steal his wealth. I’m no fanboy of Elon Musk, but you don’t get to rob someone, even through the euphemism of taxes, just because you don’t like them. This vindictive and jealous attitude towards wealth creation would be the downfall of our country. And if we really want to punish something in society it should be Kalshi and Polymarket. They turn every aspect of life into a degenerate casino. These companies are much more of a problem in society than anything Elons companies are doing.

@ariaradnia To be fair though, the accelerating revenue growth comes from the Semrush acquisition and is not organic

What would you pay for a business: - growing 70% consistently - has 60% margins - huge TAM - at least 15 years of growth left - wide moat What's a fair multiple?

I think I'm going to look back on 2026, see how clear some longs were in the market, and wonder why I didn't go even bigger. I know the markets are near all time highs, but there's a significant amount of value out there.

@sidecarcap You nailed it. The CEO is the signal everyone skips. It’s why I own $VFC. Bracken Darrell turned Logitech into a 10-bagger before he ever touched apparel. Different industry. Same operator.

Investors will spend weeks on channel checks, expert network calls, and deep “fundamental research,” and overlook the highest quality signal is often the CEO’s track record.

@finphysnerd The main question is why should multiples revert to historical levels? On a 5-year look back basis, asset inflation from monetary policy brought equity multiples, esp, for compounders, up. I wouldn’t bet that they return to prior levels anytime soon.

The selloff in the high moat, compounder names is getting ridiculous. The irrs I get for some of these co's as long as they don't royally shit the bed are pretty attractive. Stuff like $SPGI, $MA, $V, $BR and now add $CME, $CBOE and $ICE with their recent selloff. Steadily adding
