My experience began in high school with vocational training for future medical professionals, and continued from there. As former EMS and army medic, my mind immediately goes to "Is the scene safe?" and analyzing the scene and injury in order to know what actions are required.
Such a scenario as we are being described now (with very little info to go on) could be indicative of a potential hazard such as an accidental poisoning (cleaning chemicals reacting and resulting in inhalation mimic the symptoms as described to us. That can be instantly ruled out if there is some sort of recent illness that may have been the cause.
My deepest condolences to his family for their loss. My husband is a fan of his.

Let me tell you honestly what we face from Northerners
-drive up our home costs
-rush around always pushing, always busy
-have no manners, do not say ma’am and sir
-tell us our religions are wrong
-take down our monuments
-tell us we can’t celebrate our history or ancestors
-literally spit on our graves
-teach our kids that they are inferior to Northern kids by birth
-buy our old, well maintained homes, gut them and paint them gray
And on and on and on.
Any small Southern community who has had an influx of Northerners faces one of these issues almost daily. It’s not all Northerners of course but it’s enough to make a distinct impression.

I was put on a leash for my lunch walk and was unable to tackle Grim and gnaw on her relentlessly while she ran free! I was coerced into performing "behaviors" like "sit" and "eyes" so id look at the stupid lady with the leash using tasty morsels known as treats. She was luring me around in small circles, making me follow the treats in her hand!

Yesterday, Divers doing a routine maintenance check at the Converse Reservoir Dam in Mobile, AL discovered an underwater grenade type IED. The FBI bomb squad had to be called in to safely detonate it. The Reservoir and Dam are critical infrastructure, and this is being called “an unprecedented threat“ The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been made aware of the situation.

The real litmus test of "freedom" in a given area may be whether or not "free range parenting" is 100% tolerated.
I would put up with a LOT to live in a place where there aren't busybodies peeping out the window and calling you in for letting your kids ride their bikes.
And on this front, only deep ghettos and deep backwoods areas seem to actually score very well.
But as a Catholic with a need to access the Sacraments, only one of these genres of places is going to consistently have open and operational Churches in the next 20+ years. Rural Catholicism is in freefall decline...
The future is looking tough. Isolation or inner city. What little in-between remains functional will be unaffordable to most.
