They just have a hatred of contemporary fiction and specifically thinks books like Normal People, My Year of Rest and Relaxtion, and A Little Life are bad. It’s true that liberals believe that a good life is a freely chosen one. (One of the great liberal insights is that there are many things that are good only inasmuch as they are freely chosen)
But that doesn’t mean liberals have nothing to say about a good life.

The problem is, while Villeneuve’s “Dune” is a reasonable comparison to Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”, the Russo Brothers’ “Doomsday” is a coughing baby to Greta Gerwig’s atomic “Barbie.”
