This has nothing to do with the reasons that more kids are uninsured - which this thread doesn’t mention. Census data was clear - it’s the loss of Medicaid/CHIP that’s driving the increase for kids. CMS hasn’t even acknowledged that this is happening — much less tried to fix it.

Unfortunately, it appears that many of those who fled the market are going uninsured. This week, the Census Bureau annual report on insurance coverage shows the number of uninsured ⬆ by 1.9 million people in 2018. 4/10

The Census Bureau has a special report out on kids -- using CPS data the uninsured rate for kids went up from 4.9% to 5.5%. It is attributed to the loss of public coverage -- ie Medicaid/CHIP.
