Had the Russians crumbled and Stalin retreated to Siberia, the States would have simply converted even *more* civilian factories for military war production, expanded the draft, kept working on the Bomb, and would have put mushroom clouds over German (former) cities at the same time they went up over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If not in '45, certainly by '46. And whether Hitler offed himself or not, the Reich would have been forced to the surrender table. Because there was nothing to stop the American engine. Which not only beat the world for quantity, it also beat the world for quality, too. A singular moment of focused U.S. national will. For which the Axis literally had no answer.
