According to @MattNorlander, there is a major in-season CBB tournament in the works called the “Diamond Cup”, which would feature the blue bloods of college basketball and is planning to debut in 2027.

NEWS: Maryland Eastern Shore transfer Justin Monden has committed to Indiana, his agent Lenny Minaya of @fdmathletics_ told @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot guard played one season at UMES after playing two at Georgia Southwestern State. He averaged 6.0PPG, 1.6APG and 1.2RPG this season.

The men's + women's NCAA Tournaments are expected to formally pass approval for expansion to 76 teams in May, sources told CBS Sports. The move to 76 would mean 52 teams would auto-slot into the main bracket and 12 games for 24 teams Tues/Wed for a rebuilt opening round. Story TK

More: Opening round will be split between at-large + auto bids, expanding out current First Four format. All 16-seeds and half the 15s will be slotted into the Tuesday/Wednesday of the opening round. The other half will be a mix depending on team quality. 11s, 12s and maybe a 13.

I try to defend the NCAA, but they seem intent on:
* Passing the 5 years of eligibility rule
* Grandfathering in last years players (gotta avoid lawsuits!)
* And doing it after the portal closes

ICYMI: Indiana guard Tayton Conerway will seek an additional year of eligibility, and enter the transfer portal.
Conerway played three seasons at the Juco level before playing three seasons of NCAA D1 at Troy and #iubb.
He’ll argue that only seasons played at D1 should count towards his eligibility.

@Mustangs_85 I would say fight it by not supporting it with your wallets, but I don't think that's realistic. I just hate seeing college fans just roll over and accept the new norm. We already have pro leagues (NFL and NBA) and the college product used to be distinctly different. Not anymore.

It makes me sad that college sports fans just shrug their shoulders and say, "That's just how it is now." College sports is moving closer and closer toward the professional model. What has made college sports special is going away and you should hate it and fight against it.
