With him as a manager, any player who still isn't bought in should be moved on, no matter how good they are, because they're simply uncoachable.

@Statford_Bridge I honestly think if the solution is Tenzo then you’re better off selling him and reinvesting in more suitable 6. There’s higher suitability and potential at 10 and it’s an opportunity for genuine reimbursement.

Some questions I have digesting Alonso 1) 3 or 4? I presume it’ll be something like 33/67, but is the most pressing question. 2) how does he get Enzo/Caicedo on the field together and better than they have been? 343 pair? 4231? Tenzo? 3) how he wants to use Reece James

@CFCRobL @SoggyBonito No, Caicedo just threw his leg across Semenyo, then got booked for sarcastically clapping the ref. Should criticise his lazy tackle when you're losing.

@Dannynn__ @SoggyBonito Not really when Caicedo was penalised for this exact same situation later in the very same game and these types of decisions are regularly given. If you want to argue refereeing is consistent in this country then crack on

@SoggyBonito Happy to agree to disagree, i get your points I just dont agree that running full pelt into someone from an off angle (normal speed is critical for this clip) with no contact made on the ball is ok. Defender can’t be there first when JP has it, it wasnt two players chasing a ball

@CFCRobL Just tagged you actually cos I completely agree on Hato one. Stonewall pen! I just think the first one is classic strong defending and the way I’ve watched and played for many years you reward defenders who get there first

@SoggyBonito You’re just ignoring the context that the ball was knocked past him and any semblance of control he had over that situation was a byproduct of just T-boning JP the ground. Got there first when JP had the ball? Also your defensive points here don’t apply to the foul on Hato 🤷‍♂️

@CFCRobL Erm did you miss the bit where he’s in front of JP and has the ball at his feet? The funny thing is if Khusanov was a little late and barged him shoulder to shoulder nobody would’ve batted an eyelid. But he got there first. Me and the pros agree.

@Dannynn__ because JP has knocked the ball on and the defender is nowhere near it and proceeds to just knock him over?

@CFCRobL How's he late to the ball he gets in front of him 😂

@olijcarpenter Yeah that's my concern, you then add another 1/2 minutes to every check but I think it's a fair call from Ollie here that Cucu loses momentum to run around a player stood offside which in my mind, is interferring. You'd assume it's an edge case though

@CFCRobL The frustrating answer is... It depends.

@SoggyBonito So it's a foul then, because Khusanov gets nowhere near the ball and blocks off JP's run only. It's no different than when someone tries to run around a defender face on and they step to the side to block them. Had Khusanov got control of the ball then fairs but he was beat.

@CFCRobL Khusanov arches his run to block JP. Crucially he gets in front and the ball is at his feet after contact. It’s strong defending and has been for decades, hence Shearer et al praising the defending. Sorry

@SoggyBonito Shoulder to shoulder is for players running on the same line wrestling for position - running full pelt into someone from the side isn't the same, especially when you make contact with the legs. Anyone running full pelt into someone's side will floor them, that's not strength

@CFCRobL Mate, are you aware of the concept of shoulder to shoulder? Or a defender using their strength? It’s even less of a fouls because Khusanov gets there earlier. The ball is right by his feet after he deals with him. There’s nothing there

@CFCRobL Was at the game so only saw the game in real time. Khusanov is so strong so not sure if shoulder charges are fouls?

It is absolutely good enough to compete at the top if strengthened it's whether those who hold the power are able to 1) Identify where needs strengthening 2) Go about it the right way That's where this all falls down, the logic is often there but the execution leaves wanting
Absolute Chelsea@AbsoluteChelsea

#Chelsea believe they have learned lessons from this season. Xabi Alonso shares the view that the squad is good enough to compete if some areas are strengthened. [via @BobbyVincentFL]

@CFCRobL Stonewall? Come on man, I’m a blue but we can’t be crying for these. How about the other way round, would you want it given against you? No!
