The problem of NYC DSA leaders defending sweeps is not separate from support for demolishing NYCHA homes.
NYC DSA has moved substantially right on housing as a result of yimby entryism since 2022.
The only fix is growing NYC-DSA’s relationship w/ NYC’s tenant movement.

Brian has very different politics than Aber. As an example he backed a real estate funded candidate running to crush one of DSA’s best tenant organizers for a council seat. Such values will have massive consequences for his district, and if we have to take on WFP here, so be it.

YIMBYism as an organised ideology is anti-socialist. Building more housing and restructuring our urban environments aren't the exclusive domain of YIMBYism, and in fact has a far longer history in our movement than in one magicked up by rich San Franciscans a decade ago.

While I agree with YIMBYs on a lot (the need for more dense housing, zoning reform etc.), YIMBYism is ultimately a liberal, not a socialist ideology. The affordability crisis isn’t a market failure caused by government interference, it’s a result of the commodification of housing
