SHA & Teachers Unions Seal Healthcare Deal Following a two-day high-level retreat, the Social Health Authority (SHA), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have agreed on major reforms to enhance teachers’ medical cover under the Mwalimu Comprehensive Medical Scheme. Key resolutions include: ✅ Last Expense Benefit now fully operational—KES 300,000 payable within 48 hours of a member’s demise. Initial 160 claims processed. ✅ Ex-Gratia Framework institutionalized & overseas specialized care facilities secured. ✅ End to tariff locking, with targeted negotiations to conclude within four weeks. ✅ Walk-in, walk-out service guarantee reinforced; chronic medication extended to one-month dosage. ✅ National Ambulance Service launch imminent; referral hospitals planned for Bungoma, Kericho, and Coast region. ✅ TSC county structures reactivated to streamline grassroots service delivery. The agreement, anchored on accelerating Universal Health Coverage (UHC), aims to ensure timely, quality healthcare for all teachers.

The election was conducted on the CnR platform, with a simple, secure, and transparent process. Eligible voters received a unique voting link via SMS. Upon accessing the link, voters were presented with the three elective positions. Voting was completed by selecting a preferred candidate for each position and submitting the ballot. The system was designed with integrity safeguards—once a vote was cast, repeat voting was not permitted. Any subsequent attempt to vote would instead display the voter’s previously selected choices, ensuring both accountability and transparency. The official results remain under the custody of the KMA Trust and will be formally presented during the KMA Annual Scientific Conference scheduled to take place at @SawelaLodges Naivasha, from 14th to 17th April 2026. The KMA Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, 17th April 2026, where the official handover of leadership (“PAWA”) will occur. This transition will be ceremonially cemented later that evening during the KMA Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at 7:00 PM. KMA once again demonstrates that elections can be spirited, ethical, and fair—a standard that institutions across the country can emulate. President Donald Trump has spoken the truth about Kamala Harris. Kamala has never identified as Black. She has never spoken of her father who is black. There is no photo of her with her father. She has always identified as Indian whom her mother is. Her pictures growing up are in Indian sari. Cut President Trump some slack for speaking the truth.
