@jankool37 @RCRBuck Ahh Sitaware… ok I thought there was something new (again). I’m badly out of the loop. I know some units are using it (or planning to soon) to support CAXs

@CPapuschak @RCRBuck Indeed. Sitaware HQ is in use by the team in Latvia. Not sure if it's available on the VTEN, which is why I asked!

The biggest challenge I face as an AOC Directing Staff isn’t teaching the students to plan & execute major combat operations against the enemy, it is quelling their undying loyalty to PowerPoint.

@RCRBuck Does CACSC use / have access to the in-service planning software?

@officersmess @RCRBuck You didn’t ask him to. Everything is susceptible to FPV now, especially slow-moving light infantry without mobility support. Adding armour isn’t the solution to the threat. Up-armouring is an unsustainable cat and mouse game. We have a survivability onion for a reason.

@RCRBuck You haven't addressed the simple fact that Lt forces now include, & are susceptible to, UAS/V attacks. What cam/concealment/protection is offered w/this platform for the threat? Asses are hanging out in the wind. Just wait until the RORM/LMA/LSAs pour in & it goes back for RAM-D.

For my fellow Clausewitz skeptics - a great piece on centres of gravity
Military Strategy Magazine@milstrategymag

A careful examination of Clausewitz’s theory of the center of gravity is overdue. The fact that it has not happened is due in part to #Clausewitz’s legacy. Until the limits of the theory are acknowledged, it may be useful to keep a few caveats in mind. Free to read 👉 bit.ly/3TD7z0i #Strategy #war #Military by @AJEchevarriaII from @us_awc

@ChasAHKnight The absence of BDA from these videos has been a bit annoying. The number of videos showing the absence of IDF infantry support might suggest the IDF see the risk to dismounts out front is greater than within/behind the armour. Maybe? The post-op reports will be interesting.

Urbanistas, this is worth a close look. The editing makes it difficult to distinguish between effective hits, possible APS activation, and premature detonations on obstructions. Still, the value of the RPG-7 system for fighting within buildings is evident (some bold engagements).

Qassam vs IDF in Brazil, SE Rafah. Five Yassin strikes targeting: a Merkava, staring straight down the tank barrel; a Namer troop carrier with an 85mm anti-armour warhead; a D9 armoured bulldozer in the cockpit; a 2nd D9; and Merkava tank with a Yassin 105. [Qassam Brigades 22/5]

@JaysonGeroux @CPapuschak @wavellroom @ChasAHKnight I'm always slightly sceptical, especially during an ongoing conflict, of using individual battles as a means of challenging more established principles. We have to see them as observations which, once scrutinised, become lessons and analyse them in the tactical context.

Listened to an ep of the @OpsGp_Jrtc podcast about preparing staffs for LSCO this AM. Does anyone have any other recommended podcasts about the Brigade Fight? AOC is transitioning from BG to Bde this weekend & I want to give the students a good listen. spotify.link/RMY35KHQ9Db

Awesome @TMWpodcasts episode with @AmosFox6 discussing manoeuvre becoming a catch-all for the way the West approaches modern combat. They used #Ukraine’s current experience to help explain why manoeuvre isn’t the only approach available & thinking so myopically isn’t a good idea.
Amos Fox@AmosFox6

I had a great time discussing maneuver warfare and the so-called maneuverist approach with ⁦@TMWpodcasts⁩. You can catch the conversation here. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thi…

@JaysonGeroux @TheProcessLives You're too kind @JaysonGeroux ; there is increasing interest and concern at various levels within the Int Corps about urban IPB/IPOE. It is gaining momentum, but there are a lot of problem sets to resolve, especially a coherent approach to urban terrain analysis.

@TheProcessLives You are correct; thankfully @CPapuschak is changing that. His research/dedication/writing in understanding urban IPB is setting the standard. He has a couple of presentations on it now & a future article in an urban warfare-themed edition of the Canadian Army Journal.
