SACRAMENTO ADVOCACY DAY AT THE CAPITOL! 🏛️ Today, I was proud to join my Executive Officer colleagues of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) in Sacramento to advocate for critical funding to offset the severe impacts of HR 1 on public hospitals, indigent care, and essential safety-net programs like Medi-Cal and CalFresh eligibility. Without state assistance, millions of Californians could lose access to healthcare and nutrition assistance, while our public hospitals and county health systems face serious financial strain. Counties are on the front lines of delivering these services, and we must ensure our communities continue to receive the care and support they deserve. We were proud to stand alongside leaders and experts from our sister organizations across California, including: • California Public Hospitals Association • California Association of County Executives • California Welfare Directors Association • County Health Executives Association of California • California Medical Services Program Together, we are working to protect healthcare access and vital services for the most vulnerable Californians. 🤝

The California delegation to @NACoCounties #NACoLegCon 2026 wrapped up our trip today on Capitol Hill. @CSAC_Counties First VP @SupervisorAlejo led a meeting with @SenAdamSchiff and @SenAlexPadilla that focused on the critical issues counties face, including H.R. 1, disaster response and preparedness, and administering elections.

We wrapped our day up with the Women of @NACoCounties membership meeting!

This afternoon, @CSAC_Counties attended various policy summits on topics like energy data centers and land use, the future of federal transportation, and federal disaster policy.
