#Bengaluru: Delivered inaugural address at the #RISE_Conclave 2026 (Research, Innovation, StartUp Entrepreneurship' Conclave): Key Takeaways: "The basic objective of the RISE Conclave is to bring together the four pillars of Research, Industry, Start-ups and Entrepreneurship on one platform, to facilitate  collaborations among #StartUps, industry, investors, academia and policymakers for long-term sustainability. India's StartUp ecosystem comprised only around 350–400 StartUps in 2014, but overnight picked up after PM @narendramodi's call from the Red Fort, and has today expanded to nearly 2.3 lakh StartUps, making India the world's third-largest StartUp ecosystem generating over 24 lakh jobs. 50 per cent of India's StartUps are now emerging from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Entrepreneurship is accessible to individuals with commitment, passion and technological aptitude, regardless of their location or formal educational qualification. We have consciously ventured into sectors that remained underexplored in the past. The government is also very forthcoming in engaging the private sector in a big way, because an integrated approach is essential for achieving global standards. Space and biotech sectors are two examples of rapid economic growth after accelerating the PPP model".

Addressing the session on startup growth and commercialization, Dr. S. Senthil Vinayagam emphasized that innovation alone is not sufficient for success—effective market positioning, customer segmentation, and strategic marketing are equally critical. He highlighted the importance of identifying the right target market and developing tailored value propositions for different customer segments, whether B2B, B2C, or emerging market categories. Drawing parallels with the broader startup ecosystem, he noted that many ventures face challenges not in technology development but in commercialization, digital outreach, and market adoption. He encouraged entrepreneurs to clearly articulate the unique value of their innovations and align their offerings with real market needs. Dr. Vinayagam also stressed the importance of setting realistic expectations from mentors and leveraging their expertise to navigate growth challenges. While industry often prioritizes profitability and measurable returns, he underscored that the research community remains committed to supporting startups through knowledge sharing, technology validation, and innovation-driven partnerships, helping bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and market success. @DrJitendraSingh @CSIR_IND @CSIRNALOFFICIAL @CSIR_4PI @csircftri @IndiaDST @DBTIndia @BIRAC_2012 @isro @GVRayasam @moesgoi @iipm_bangalore #RISEConclaveBengaluru #RISEConclave2026 #CSIRRISEConclave #ViksitBharat2047 #InnovationEcosystem #StartupIndia

Dr. Tirtha Pratim Das, Director, Space Science Programme, ISRO Sharing insights from ISRO’s journey of innovation and exploration, emphasized that setbacks and failures are an integral part of scientific progress. He highlighted ISRO’s systematic approach of thoroughly identifying the root causes of failures, learning from them, and implementing corrective measures to ensure future success. He underscored the critical role of rigorous simulation, testing, and validation processes in building reliable technologies and mission readiness. Stressing the importance of self-reliance and resilience, Dr. Das encouraged innovators and entrepreneurs to develop the confidence and capability to stand on their own feet while continuously improving their solutions. Drawing from ISRO’s experience, he remarked that a temporary setback should never be viewed as the end of the journey. Instead, challenges and hiccups should serve as learning opportunities that strengthen determination, foster innovation, and ultimately pave the way for success. @DrJitendraSingh @CSIR_IND @CSIRNALOFFICIAL @CSIR_4PI @csircftri @IndiaDST @DBTIndia @BIRAC_2012 @isro @GVRayasam @moesgoi #RISEConclaveBengaluru #RISEConclave2026 #CSIRRISEConclave #ViksitBharat2047 #InnovationEcosystem #StartupIndia
