Following #US President Donald Trump’s announcement of "Project Freedom", a naval operation set to begin on May 4 to escort vessels out of the Strait of Hormuz under a "humanitarian gesture", Iran pushed back sharply.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, condemned his statement, stating on X that "the Strait of Hormuz wasn’t closed with a tweet to be opened with a tweet."
#Rezaei argued that any reopening would require either "accepting defeat, reaching an agreement, and conceding #Iran’s sovereignty and leadership over the strait, or returning to the field and suffering another humiliating defeat," and then ultimately "conceding Iran’s sovereignty and leadership over the strait."
"There is no other way," he affirmed.
